When my mav comes in and I go to pick it up at the dealer what are they going to try and sell me (warranty, ceramic coating, underbody, etc)? And are any of them worth considering or are they all a rip off? Thanks

If you didn't order it when you ordered your truck, then you don't need it now. Everything they try to sell you, including the warranty, will be less expensive on line. The only thing I couldn't get was the warranty because I live in Florida. ( I'll wait until my 3 yr, 36K is close, then shop) if I think I need it.

I’d say that just about everything they try to get you to buy besides the truck you ordered is overpriced and just profit for the dealership. And like another said here, you can shop online and find better prices for the same stuff. I’m sure someone on this forum has covered all the extra stuff they try to sell and says where to buy it cheaper, especially the extended warranty.

I bought two Bronco Sports in the last three months. First one they tried the hard sell on all the crap. Paint, undercoating, etching, etc. Refused every bit of it till at the end they offered warranty of 150k/10 year bumper to bumper for $2500. Took that as one electronic device could easily equal that. When the second one came in they didn't even offer other crap just asked if I wanted the same warranty for the same price so I took it. When the Maverick arrives this week I'm sure they'll offer the same again. My point is, you can refuse it all and get better deals the more you refuse the crap.

Mine tried to sell:

Ceramic coat: $800 (LMFAO)
Key Replacement: $450 (umm, that's what a key costs... and I've lost 0 keys in 43 years of life)
Warranty 8/80k $2500 third party: (no worries, I'm sure someone will call and offer to sell me one eventually...)
Wheel/Tire replacement: $1200 (#snicker GTFO with that nonsense)

I did however purchase the undercoat because it was sold through a local company whose process I know and trust. $600 with a 10 year warranty on it. Electroplate option, not oil or that garbage ziebart wax nonsense. Realistically if it lasts me 5 years it paid for itself in yearly oil sprays and pain in the ass of getting that done. Have to take undercoating seriously here in Buffalo

I did purchase an extended warranty...I only paid about $50 above dealer's cost (I think it was around $1100 for 7 years, bumper to bumper, no deductible). I plan to keep my Maverick 10 years.

My dealer offered me an extended warranty. No hard sell. That was it.

Damn - I would have taken that offer too. My experience wasn't really negative, but it wasn't positive either. The warrantee offers they trotted out seemed pretty weak compared to 150k/10 for $2500. Good on you!

You brought back un-fond memories of a past life in Erie. The road salt was a nightmare for vehicles.

I had the dealer do my '79 Chevy van. It was horrible. Didn't last.
I had 10 year old '68 Mustang in that the only body rust was on a non-Ziebarted replacement fender.

I am sure the under coating materials are much better now. If I was to have it done, it would be by a reputable after market supplier. Or as in your case a dealer using a reputable after market supplier. I would want the warranty from the supplier.

All depends on the dealer. My local dealer (Academy Ford, Laurel Maryland) has all their people on salary. They don't mark up orders or sell any of the ridiculous items (ceramic coating, window etching, nitrogen tire fill, etc). When I picked up my Maverick, they offered the Ford extended warranty, but didn't sell it very hard.

I am familiar with electroplating but not electroplate undercoating. Would you share the brand name of this process?

Mine pushed the extended warranty and a $800 tire protection plan. I let him go a while then said no. Total time to do paperwork & pay about 5 minutes.
