At 20K after a year of mostly highway driving and at 36 MPG.

You folks getting 40+ must be driving really slow in the city or y'all are those idiots in the left lane on the highway that piss all of us with somewhere to go off mighty bad.

Those numbers are consistent to my experience with both ecoboost and hybrid. But my average overall MPG in winter has been lower, likely due to the colder weather impact (NE WI) to engines/short trips, and winter-blend close to 2% less efficient. I am basing my AVG on vehicle's calculation.
I have over 4K on my hybrid now and overall MPG just went over 37 for about 60/40 highway-city. Hoping to see much better spring-summer MPG in the hybrid as some people are reporting.... but that would probably swing lower again in winter.

Maverick owners' MPG stats from Fuelly.com, the fuel economy tracking site. The stats are from 282 owners, over a combined 2.6 million miles driven.

Hybrid Mavericks appear to be averaging 36-37 MPG
EcoBoost
Mavericks appear to be averaging 26-27 MPG

Yup....pretty clear Ecoboost bump and hybrid bump...funny....I thought the ecoboost was supposed to get the same mpg as the hybrid. *sarcasm*

In Google maps, set route options to "avoid highways." In my area, it only adds between 5-15 minutes to the trip, but I regularly get >40mpg.

I agree with @Hatonapug 100%. Unless you're in a climate where you're always below 32ºF, or you always slam on the brakes, or you drive mostly highway and at speeds 75mph+...you should be above 40 mpg.

I drive 50/50 city/hwy, and almost always 70 mph on the hwy. In the winter when it's below 32ºF, I average about 36-37 mpg. Worst tank 31.1 mpg when it ranged from 0ºF to 15ºF, snowy, and mostly highway for all of that tank.

In the summer, I average around 44 mpg. Through 15 months, four seasons (with two winters), and 37,644 miles, my never-reset-trip-odo reads 41.0 mpg.

I drive in normal mode. Specific to Lariat lux, I almost always drive (in city or on hwy) with the adaptive cruise with start / stop and lane centering. City driving sweetspot for mpg is 42 mpg.

At the pump, I've compiled fill/mileage data for 10 months, 27,120 miles, for an average of 39.85 mpg. As I finish the next two months with these warmer temps, my pump data is trending to result in 40+ mpg through four seasons.
Right on target. Just finished a 590 mi interstate trip from north TX to south LA. First 450 mi were hilly roads and last 140 were flat swampy roads. Filled up after 450 because of $2.80 gas and averaged 43.5. Reset trip 1 and averaged 41 were no hills. I use slippery mode for highway driving

Ecoboost with tow package. I am getting 28.6 mpg. I have been driving in Eco mode. But recently started using Normal, the mileage is still the same. Mostly rural 2 lane highways with some interstate.

Maverick hybrid nails economy at 55 mph and below, I knew that from 12 Prius years, leave early, keep your foot off the front bumper and get there relaxed and on time. My city/highway is per dash is 43.8, best trip of 15 miles of city stop and go was 56 mpg, best interstate towing 30 mpg per dash, I'm a happy camper.

I find that the higher MPG you achieve, the more discrepancy there is between the truck's calculation and my calculation at the pump.

The truck said about 49mpg on one tank and I calculated 46, mostly suburban/country driving. 3mpg difference.

Recently I did a 100% highway trip; the truck said 43.5mpg and I calculated just under 42. Only 1.5mpg difference.

1600 miles in... was getting 40-43 mpg until it warmed up here last week. Now getting 43-45mpg... overall avg 43mpg.

You must just slam on the brakes to stop to get sub 40 in the hybrid.

I get over 40 when 100% highway driving.
Your mpg numbers are very similar to mine. At 5700 miles, I'm averaging 44.5 mpg--a little better than that (45-46mpg) over the last 3 gas fill-ups since I started driving in the hybrid's Slippery mode. Two longer trips, mostly on the interstate hwy, gave me 40mpg. In other words, taken as a whole, MUCH better fuel mileage than the Mav is EPA-rated at.

Funny that OP posts aggregate data from nearly 300 Maverick owners and people say it's incorrect because their anecdotal evidence doesn't represent the average.

I don't know if you know how datasets work.

Just FYI, there is a different blend of gas for colder areas to prevent separation and eliminate condensation.

So why do you assume we drive in the left lane? I can do 40 and rarely ever am in the left lane. Are you "one of those idiots" who zig-zag over all lanes, going 20 mph over the posted limits because you've got to get where you're going before anyone else? Same type of assumption.
