"The S&B takes it to another level."
...but be sure your engine cover is in place first.
I guess that's the question... what is that level in terms of:
Decibels?
Horsepower?
Torque?

aFe Maverick Intake

The aFe does reuse the OEM inlet/scoop piece whereas the S&B has a new, channeled piece and the turbo inlet replacement tube.
Yes that's what I mentioned - Flow numbers with that new inlet would be interesting -

I'd buy the S&B if I didn't already snag the aFe at a good discount and install it awhile back.

It's noticeable but not as loud as the Buscher one, which I am fine with. The aFe also has a cap on one end of the box they say you can remove for more air flow and noise but I haven't done that yet.

Any value on an Eco? :D No figures of any kind posted.
Quoting the OP " The stock intake is better than most of the warm air intakes on the market. The S&B takes it to another level." It should be noted the OEM setup is a cold air intake.

Don't get me wrong, this is one pretty air box, what I'd call car show bling. Open the hood and show it off but be sure your engine cover is in place first.
In my opinion, selling an intake based on HP gains is misleading. You can make a dyno read whatever you want and besides the placebo effect of "It sounds faster", you won't feel much if any difference. There are definetly exceptions on some applications but like I said the stock unit is already a good design, but it will never flow what the S&B will. Its about the air flow gains which is why S&B does iso5011 airflow testing which is all lab controlled and shows % increase in air flow.

One of the first Maverick intakes on the market was a pipe and cone filter which claimed upwards of 25 hp. If we're going that route , then based on those claims, the S&B should make triple that. But we know thats not true but so the gains we provide will be real world gains.

@Fast Mavericks Let's say you've already ripped out the stock intake and associated fasteners, does this unit come with all clips, fasteners, etc. to mount all pieces to the truck or do you need to retain OEM clips?
The intake will include everything needed as it replaces the complete stock unit. The only stock fasteners I can think of that you'n need are the 2 studs with 13mm studs that support the intake in place and the 2 push lock tabs that hold the air scoop .

Ivan, are you planning on incorporating this with your 2.3L Corsair Turbo? And of course later with your full 2.3L EcoBoost Swap for your Maverick?

While I appreciate what you are saying about marketing a product based only on HP gains.... HP Gains are probably the only reason folks will spend more than $300 to install this.

Will you be able to run at least some before and after comparisons on your own vehicles to illustrate some 'relative' (ergo... your mileage may vary) improvement? Also, video or a decibel meter to know how much louder this intake is, particularly in normal mild day to day driving?

Lastly, are there any comprimises being made to the amount of filtering that is taking place? Are you letting more nasties pass through the filter? (a K&N filter is an instant horsepower increase, but some time later an engine can show the consequences of being toooo free-flowing..) I'm just asking, becuase, well, I'm largely uninformed and I want to make sure increasing flow is not being done at the expense of safeguarding the intake system from potentially ingesting too much particulate.

All my questions aside, those folks have designed a very attractive piece of kit.

any value add on a hybrid?
The answer is more nuanced, but the short answer is not really. Also the intake is different for a 2.0. Dyno charts are really nice for stuff like this, because in truth if you are just a normal driver you are not usually in the RPM range where things like cold air intake make real power gains. If you tow, and/or drive fast often then it is a different conversation.

There are definetly exceptions on some applications but like I said the stock unit is already a good design, but it will never flow what the S&B will.
And there is the rub. Just increasing the air box flow will not increase how much the engine can actually use.
Without a bigger inter cooler, bigger turbo, bigger down pipe, a tune and once you get that much air going will the injectors be big enough. Get all that ironed out and there goes the marginal 8F35 transmission.
I've been this route with charged and blown street Mustangs and none of them made any measurable gains with a CAI without matching upgrades throughout the system.

You ought to start work as an engineer/consultant for aftermarket products

True dat- It's a puzzle that you need all the pieces to but that CAI is drop dead sexy :)
