My Maverick had the recall notice to replace the side-curtain airbags. When I called to schedule an appointment, Ford recommended using their mobile service to perform the work. I decided to give them a try and I was glad I did. It was super convenient and the technicians who performed the work were cool. The work they performed was completed in an hour without issue. They also explained they can do most maintenance via mobile service and gave me their cards with direct number to schedule in the future. Solid.

Here's a list from Ford of dealerships that offer Mobile Service.

So is there an additional cost when using the mobile service?

If still within the factory (or extended warranty) I'd think the normal parts and labor would be covered. But is there an additional charge for the convenience of having repairs done at your home, work or wherever?

It sure beats dropping off your Maverick at a dealership and given a vague promise on when it will be available for pick up (many hours or days later).

That's interesting to know my dealership said it would take the better part of the day to do it starting to make me think they might have their heads in their pooper if they think it'll take that long.

Well, like we say around our house when we tackle a project, “It’s easy when you know how.”

I’m curious to know the answer to this also, for work not involving a recall.

Do you pay more if they come to your house than if you bring your vehicle in? Gotta believe you would, and that at least you’d have to pay mileage.

Also I suppose not all jobs can be done in your driveway or home garage. But sure would be nice to have them come to you, especially if the vehicle isn’t running for some reason.

Thanks for posting the list, @Michaelkov . Lots of people will find this useful. (I’m not surprised my local dealer doesn’t offer this service, but a larger one about 40mins away does. So, good to know.)

No extra charge...in fact, no charge at all this trip as it was recall work. They're promoting it at the dealer I use as they're backed up on service appointments in the service bay...at least that's how they explained it to me.

Well update, now Ford said they can not do the side curtain air bag recall. Because Ford is working on a updated air bag. So are people going to need there's replaced again??

The recall pays 2 hours..... it usually takes longer than that (at most dealerships). Looks like the mobile repair team had two people. That could certainly speed things up.

Hmmm....I work at a dealership (and deal with the warranty claims). I don't see any update to FSA 22C20. I looked up the airbag parts in Ford's parts system. Parts are available. No notes about the part being replaced.

So unless your dealer is getting information before Ford broadcasts it to other dealers....I don't think that it is true!

Is the info you got from Ford cust service, or from a dealership?

Maybe they are waiting for parts. Maybe they know information that I don't know. Or maybe they found out that it took their techs 4-5 hours to complete a recall that only pays 2 hours, and they are not enthusiastic about taking on any more! (my suspicion would be the latter)

If Ford does release updated info about the recall/airbags, myself or someone else will post details here.
