The info about location of the ACM connection is below. The low end is better than without the DSP Amp, but remember you can tune the DSP the way you want it to sound. As you can see in the photo below of the tuning screen, there is 15 bands you can fiddle with.

For me, adding the sub power connection was the most difficult task; but for you with a hybrid, that part should be easy for you. The sub input comes directly from the DSP sub output.

I ran my sub RCA wiring and remote wire along with my Sirius antenna wiring under the right side sill trims all the way to the dash area and it was about a 30 minute task. But there are other paths that may be just as easy.

I don't want to try and convince you one way or the other but for me, the sub was not worth the effort and did not add much of what I wanted to my sound. But, that is entirely up to a personal choice. I love mid bass but not the hammering bump of a loud subwoofer. I listen to all parts of the music and appreciate the sounds of the instruments and don't care to show off a thumping subwoofer. I've tried to tune my sub to the upper frequencies that it is capable of handling without distortion and even then I turn the remote level adjustment almost all the way down.

If I had it to do over, I would find someplace to put a couple of mid bass woofers and still may do so at some time in the future. The idea is to clearly play the mid bass where it is played by an instrument and not add a thump just because I can.

The harness connection couldn't be easier.

Here are the steps:

1. Pull off the center dash trim piece that holds the HVAC vents.
1677951374081.png
It's easy as it comes straight out and is held by four clips; 2 near the top on each side and two near the bottom on each side. All you have to do is get underneath on each side with a plastic trim tool and then pull straight out. The first time it is attached a little firm, but it does come out. You don't have to disconnect anything, just fold the trim piece out of the way.

2. Next unplug the Ford Harness on the right side of the ACM (circled in red shown the following photo).
1677951478274.jpeg

3. Plug the harness marked Male plug to the ACM where you unplugged the vehicle's harness wiring. Plug the harness marked Remale plug into the connection you unplugged from the ACM.
1677951681527.png

4. Fish the remaining end with a white rectangular connection that goes to the DSP amplifier down inside the dash on the side you want to put the DSP Amp. The length is considerable and is long enough to put under either seat. I'm thinking about putting mine near the bottom of the cavity beside the fuse box at the front of the right side floor board.
5. Plug the white connector into the DSP.

Then follow the instructions to connect a computer or smart phone and tune the DSP.

6. Put the trim piece back on then using the palm of your hand hammer it home seating the clips.

And that is it. It took me less than 20 minutes to connect the DSP and sit it on the right front seat. The tuning is specifically a personal choice and takes as long as it takes.

By the way, I have an ongoing thread that covers many things that may be helpful for you. It's long (18 Pages), but also has my trials of installation and discovery.

It's here: My humble review of my new Velocity Blue Maverick XL

I hope all this helps and does not dissuade you from doing what you want.
Howard,
You are awesome! thank you for all the great information. I do not have a Maverick yet, but when I do, this will help big time!

I installed a Kicker Hideaway 8" a few days ago. Huge improvement to my B&O system, quite impressed. Easy install, especially on a hybrid with the 12v already under the rear seat.

On sale for $254 at several places (Bestbuy, Crutchfield, Amazon,) I got an Open Box at BestBuy for $165.

Please provide a link to the DSP/amp that you bought (or one that you would recommend)
I plan on just replacing the door and rear speakers with the infiniti 6532ix and the infiniti 4x6 in the rear (I know stock is 4"round) but a guy on youtube put an 4x6 back there with no problems. I don't feel the need for a powered sub at this time. just want better quality sound than stock. Thanks again!

Edit: Oops wrong video

No problem; actually, I love this process and I rely on others for lots of information, so I don't mind passing it on.

I use Macs also. Right now I'm running a Mac mini M1 on MacOS 12.6.3 and love the speed. I also have a MacBook Pro from 2010 that I use Wine Bottler to run Windows XP in the background of open Windows apps. It's not a true Windows XP OS, but runs just enough of it to be able to run Windows apps.

Here is the website to download the apps for tuning the Puzu DSPs: https://www.puzuaudio.com/DownIndex. It looks like they have Windows and Android apps only. But there are plenty of options for running Windows apps on Macs these days.

Good luck.

This is a link to the Puzu PZ-C7 DSP Amp here. The seller is cybereveryday. He is a nice guy and will help you just make sure you tell him that you need a late model Ford harness for the 202x Maverick XL/XLT/Lariat and he can get what you need. I had to provide photos of the ACM connection and also gave him photos of the harness connections, plus the model of my Maverick.

Here are the photos I sent to make sure he had the correct harness.

I also replaced the rear 4" speakers with 4" x 6" Infinity Reference REF-6432CFX. It was a bolt up and no modification effort, except to put gasketing material around the mounting bracket to match up to the speaker baffle on the "C" pillar trim. I also added cotton baffling material to the "C" pillar cavity behind the speaker to help keep the sound in the cab.

They are obviously better than stock. The limitation here is the limiting by Ford on the rear speaker channels. Not exactly sure where the limitation is. Some say 80Hz, some 100Hz, and some say 150Hz. The 6432CFX bottom frequency is 75HZ, so if the limitation is 80HZ, it wouldn't make a lot of difference. I wish I knew what the actual limitation is.

Most DSP allow you to pick the front channels to feed the stock rear speakers, but I have not investigated the Puzu yet. If it does, then that will remove the frequency limitation on the rear speakers and I'm sure they would help fill out the sound. I have more work to do in this area.

There's a way to also remove the limitation via Forscan, but I've not tried that yet. We'll see.

I listened to mine without a sub and no DSP tuning for four months or so. The default is a great improvement and seems to provide great separation while being able to listen to all parts of the song.

I do not know the specifics of the automatic and manual tuning functions. Just a guess, that the automatic is the built-in mode and the manual is using the software. I'll have to explore that the next time I get out and work on my truck.

No, I did use the Infinity provided mounting brackets and they matched up to the Ford mount with no problem. Sorry if I misled you there. You should not have to buy the mounting bracket since one comes with the Infinity speakers. Although, it is some you should confirm before buying your speakers.

You are correct, Crutchfield does not show Maverick compatibility with the REF-6532IX; however, they bolt up directly to the Ford speaker mount. Both front and rear. I suspect Crutchfield withheld compatibility because the Infinity speakers do not match up with the speaker baffles on the trim. That is where I used the speaker gasketing material to ensure the sound was directed through the baffle.

Keep in mind you will need the Metra Electronics 72-5602 4-Way Speaker Harness Connector for Ford & Mazda Vehicles for the front speakers only. I had to add speaker wire spade connectors for the rear speakers slicing in a pigtail that fed the new 4 x 6 speakers. There is a small diameter and larger diameter spade connector on each rear speaker. I soldered mine, but a crimp connection is fine if it is done securely.

Don't worry about being a pain...I don't mind answering question.

Just a note that I found in the new Puzu DSP PZ-C7 user's manual. It says, "You can joint the channels: Grouping Front (1&2 channels) Grouping rear(3&4 channels), Grouping all, and Grouping bass" (sic). I assume this means you can remove the limiting of the rear channels by feeding them from the front. I need to explore this more.

You can tell this manual is written with translating software because word usage and grammar is pretty rough. The manual is also written assuming you have a certain level of knowledge about what they are talking about. I had to further investigate their meaning several times in my initial tuning, but the information is available on the internet.

It does have a guide that gives suggestion about settings used on each of the 15 bands, which I found very helpful.

Here is the new user's manual.
