Wolfe Jet: Hope your ownership starts better than ours. Bought the truck yesterday, drove it 40+ miles till nighttime, put it in our garage for the night, checked before going to bed, detected a strong gasoline smell in the garage, vented the garage by opening the large door for an hour, the smell went away, closed the door, waited an hour and checked again, a strong gasoline smell had returned, no wet gasoline spot under the truck. Sensing a potentially dangerous situation, parked the truck outside away from the house overnight. No wet spot under truck; no obvious smell when outside. Taking the truck back to the dealer this morning to determine what is wrong. Our long saga continues!!
Oh no, hope it’s quickly resolved! Just brought mine home after an hour of driving around town and still elated. Noticed a couple of tiny imperfections in my tonneau surface, but everything else is perfect so far.

Wolfe Jet: Got our truck back. Now no gasoline oder when park in the garage. The dealer ran a pressure test and an evacuation test on the fuel system. The truck passed both tests. The dealer discussed two theories with me: (1) There is value in the piping between the gasoline tank and where you put in gasoline to prevent someone siphoning gasoline; that value may have not properly reseated when the dealer put in gasoline just before delivery to us and allowed vapor emission; and then it reseated under the tests, and (2) apparently there is a tube to catch overfill of the gas tank; that tube got fuel when the dealer filled our tank and emitted the vapor till fuel in the tube is was gone. Who really knows? Just glad no part replacements were needed. Hope you are enjoying your truck!!

Wolfe Jet: I now have a new issue with Ford. Alas, is there no end. I checked the warranty start date on my Ford Pass account. It says 11/1/2022 -- the date I signed the Virginia Buyers Order so the dealer could get priority on the side airbag recall parts. We actually took delivery and paid on 12/1/2022. So, our Limited Warranty coverage, to me, is a month too short as a result. My call to a real person at Ford HQ says my warranty start is 11/1/2022 because I signed the Buyers Order. My complaint: I lose a month of warranty because Ford didn't fix the truck recall while it sat in Mexico for nearly 3 months. Have you checked your warranty start date? If so, is the date when you signed paperwork to start the recall parts ordering process or the date you took delivery?

Wolfe Jet: Thanks so much for the info. My wife really likes her truck!! She says it is easier to drive than our old 2003 Saturn Vue. Thanks again for all our message exchanges over the months of waiting for our trucks. Have safe journeys in your Maverick!!

Wolfe Jet; Today out of the blue, we received a Yeti insulated tumbler from Ford, apparently as a small compensation for waiting patiently for completion of the side airbag recall. Wonder if you got one too.
I got a shipping notification of something coming to me, that must be it. Saw a pic of one on a Mav facebook group, looking forward to getting it.
