We had 14" of snow on Tuesday, didn't have to go anywhere that day thankfully. The next day I went to work, had no trouble getting around, even on roads that had not been plowed. Have Nokian WR-G4s on a Hybrid.

Are you planning on keeping those tires on year round? I was looking at those and the crossclimates2 for my hybrid.

I haven't decided yet. I've still got the stock tires in the garage, might find some used Ford Escape rims and just swap the two sets based on the season. I know all weather tires don't preform as well in the heat of summer, and tend to cost MPG. Have to figure out if the cost of the rims outweighs the fuel savings of running the all seasons from April to late October/early November, over the life of the two sets.

I got the Nokian's primarly because I couldn't get Cross Climates until February or March, but I had no intention of going through winter without at the very least some all weather tires. I had Cross Cimates on my previous mid-size sadan, ran them all year long. They were good tires and handled winter snow very well. I am undecided as to which is better, I think the Cross Climates were a little less slippy on compact snow, but the Nokian's are brand new so they aren't even broken in yet, since new tires are a little slick for the first 150 miles or so, at least thats what the tires guys used to tell me away.

Yesterday morning, -50 windchill, tons of ice and snow, and the Mav FX4 gobbled it up: :)

if I go with one of those two tires, I'd like to leave them on year round. If I'm going to strictly put snow tires on just for the winter I'll stick with Blizzaks like I have in the past on a separate set of rims.

If past expereince holds true, the Cross Climates are a better year round tire, unless Nokian has made some major improvements over the previous generation tires. They seem to have a tendancy to crack and get really hard after 3-4 years, and useless in ice and snow, which is a little on the short side. I would expect to get at least 5 years out of a tire, that is assuming you don't wear the tread down before that. I had 25k miles on Cross Climates and they were still great, but put way less on WR-G2 and they were toast after 4 years. Jury is still out on the newer generation G4s, but some owners have reported similar problems.

Bizarre weather here today... started with snow, then unusually warm temps (was up to 50˚ by noon) with rain and dangerous winds and then rapidly-dropping temps down to 6˚ tonight with the winds continuing. We had a high wind warning, flood watch, "flash freeze advisory" and wind chill advisory all in one day!

My yard is covered with small branches and one large limb from a maple came down. I parked the Maverick in the safest area of the driveway and never left the house today!

Survived -10 with buttload of windchill in MN. Took it 40miles round trip to pick up family from the Airport during the bulk of the snow, left it in Slippery Mode and cruised no problem. AWD Fx4 with the Pirelli tires which arent amazing admittedly. I wanna wear them out before i get a set of Nokians or BFGs or the N. Geolandars. Research to be done.

But overall if it survived that drifting snow adventure it will be good enough for the bulk of my driving this winter I think. 👍 Its been super pretty out, at least, so thats a highlight lmao. Photo from the inside of the cab, stopped on a quiet street but too cold to wanna hop out lol. Them heated seats 🤤

Mine had salt free Bloody Mary’s with me in the garage at a nice 60 degrees. We sat there looking out the window and the 30 degree wind chill. I am sure the heated seats would help in the cold. However at my age I am not going outside to see how it performs. I have the AWD and off road package So I tried it out already on a warm day. It all worked just fine and I need a refill on the Bloody Mary. Have a good evening.

I've owned 4wd and awd fords, Lincoln, jeeps, Lexus, 4runner, chevy and Honda.
My Maverick has CC2 Michelin tires (much better than stock crappy Pirellis) and it does pretty good.
Sadly out of all the above rides an an old 2006 Ridgeline with stock tires was hands down outstanding in snow and ice. That said it was the only thing I liked about it and personally will not buy Honda again, can't stand em

-3 as of 12:00 am with wind chill -30, it's cold. I had the Mav out earlier today and it did just fine with the stock tires and front wheel drive. I did try out the slippery mode. Thing did as good as my old square body explorer 4wd.

Doing great in the garage!

BTW naming winter storms is not a real thing. The weather channel does it to sensationalize the weather.

Here in Evansville IN we only got two inches of snow, but it’s very cold (by our standards), with only a daytime high of 5 degF.

This is the first winter weather we’ve had here since I got my truck back in March. Made a couple trips to the bank and to my local Walmart about 3.5 miles. My Mav is FWD, and I put it in Slippery Mode and it did just fine.

How is the weather where you’re at and how is your Mav handling it?
Fellow Hoosier here in downtown Indy - my Maverick did great on my trip to work in Castleton - although I did warm up and de-ice the truck before leaving with Alexa ("Alexa, tell Ford Pass to start my truck") Slippery mode preformed quite well.
