Still have check engine on and the Hybrid has not started with dead gauge clusters from 1700 mile until present.

Hi guys I am back again. I have taken my truck in 3 times for the same problem, no start, no power to gauges Battery low. I was able to charge up the battery and make it to the dealership again. Basically, My Maverick hybrid has had this same problem for 3 months or the last 300 miles.. This time the Ford dealership has had my truck for 3 weeks and no calls back. I drove there on Friday and they just said they are still working on the problem. I have been there 3 times to check and the truck is parked in the back not in the engine repair bay. I sent them the videos on how to repair this problem but they said that it was not the cable or the fuse box. They said they replaced the DC/DC converter? I had to pay an additional 7,000 $ because i live in Puerto Rico. The truck has only about 2,000 miles and has not worked properly for the last few months. I am a Ford guy, 3 Mustangs, Ford F 150, explorer and a I built a GT40 replica ERA chassis. I will not buy any more Fords. How long do I wait until I have to Sue Ford to buy this POS back? If the truck does not work for 6 months then I start the process? I waited 10 months and have used it for 1700 miles when this problem started. Now, I do not have a truck that works and I had to sell my Honda Civic type R with only 9,000 miles to afford my 37,300 $ Maverick hybrid XLT with only traffic alert 360 and a spray in bed-liner. I tried to buy a used Ford F- 150 on the Island but they were 40 to 50 k for 6 to 10 year old trucks. I talked my brother-in -law into ordering a 2023. If my vehicle is not working soon I will call him and explain why he should not buy a Maverick hybrid.

When the Ford Cmax hybrids came out in 2013, many owners were left stranded with dead 12 volt batteries. It turned out Ford had to recalibrate the charging of the 12 volt battery. Once Ford did that no-one had a problem with dead batteries. I bought a 2014 Cmax hybrid and never had a problem. This is just some idea of what may be the problem. Good Luck!

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Maverick concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

I spoke with the mechanic finally by going to the dealership and making a big Deal. Ramon said that he replaced the fuse panel as there was a code for that part. He said he checked the wiring harness cable from the battery to the DC/DC converter but he thought it was good. I have seen a lot of other owners with this problem and that cable is usually involved. Ramon also related that he is in communication with Ford corporate and thinks that it is a software problem,? My VIn is 3FTTW8E33NRA60942, The dealership is Fajardo Ford. It is the only hybrid on the Island according to my Salesman Jose Falgueras. I do not want to piss off anyone there as it is probably the only dealership on the Island of Puerto rico that will work on my new truck. I drove the truck for 2 months and it has had this problem for the last 2 months. Like I said before I have bought 8 new ford vehicles and have talked my brother in law into ordering a Maverick Hybrid also. Thank you for your help. Sincerely. Dr. Joseph Cobbs

I Still have not heard anything from the dealership . Now the date is December 12. The have had my truck for at least 3 weeks this time. I have brought my Maverick in 3 times for this same problem since October. All the paperwork is in the truck so i am not 100% sure of the dates.

For what it’s worth, actual low battery (by testing battery voltage directly on the battery terminals) is not usually caused by the wiring harness issue from what I’ve read, and having experienced it myself. So at least they may be right about that. Unless… when you said you charge the battery, do you mean that you gave it a jump at the engine bay jump terminals and it started right up, but would be dead again as soon as you turn off the truck? If your battery is charged and that is happening, then that seems like the harness issue.

Hey guys I finally got my hybrid back. Ford only changed the fuse box, not the suspected cable from the 12 volt battery to the DC/DC converter. 2 days and it is working great, I am still holding my breath. Hopefully no more issues, getting about 46.8 mpg according to the computer. I will start to collect gas slips and measure more accurately.

Whew glad you got it back and it’s working well. If you don’t mind sharing, did you leave on good terms with the dealership in the end?

Yes, They were really trying to help me. It is the first Maverick Hybrid on the Island and no-one here knows about how to repair the problems caused by bad parts during the supply chain shortages and an over demand for this vehicle. Fajardo Ford took good care with me and on this 3rd time in they gave me one of there cars for free for almost 3 weeks. My claim is still open as they only replace the oxidized fuse box not the faulty cable as they say my tested okay. Still holding my breath but I am mostly getting over 50 mpg and the truck is running strong now. I love trying to get good gas milage, it is fun. Thank you Fajardo Ford!
