My apolgies to all for sounding like a sleazy dealer.
that was definitely not my intention.
my goal here is allow someone to possibly get a maverick at 2022 prices without waiting an unknown amount of time or for those that weren’t even able to get an order in for a 2023 and may have to wait up to 2 more years for one.
also, if you note, I only said I would like to “ask” for a finder fee. Not require.
someone mentioned buying and reselling, however the only entity that makes out in that deal is the state with double taxation. I figured if someone is willing to pay a “sleazy” dealer a markup for a maverick, why not give a smaller portion to an individual person that felt the struggle of having no idea when ford might build your order.
Please message me if interested and we can work something out.
again, apologies if I offended anyone.

Dude, forget the finder fee and just be a decent human and hook someone up with a dealer willing to sell a Maverick at MSRP. No one in here is going to give you 3k as a token of gratitude that they didn't have to pay a dealer markup...

But yet they will pay a dealer markup of 5k? And don't say people aren't doing it. If they weren't, then the dealers either wouldn't be charging it OR there would be Mavericks sitting on lots all over the place.
Also, it doesn't have to be 3K. It can be $100 or $0.
Like I said, I'm open to negotiate. I just said I would "like to ask". not "I require".
I just picked 3K as a number I felt was "in the middle" of typical dealer markups and MSRP.
I am a decent human offering to save somebody some money. But we are in a supply and demand world and I have a potential supply (of 1).
I guess maybe I mis read the "demand" for the maverick.

Whether your intention was to sound sleazy or not, you do. You are on an internet message board, which is built around the concept of freely sharing information. "I know how to fix this issue pay me and I'll tell you" or "I know how to verify your order pay me and I'll tell you" is crappy, why is what you are doing any better? Holding information hostage until you get paid makes you look bad. Share it or shut it.

The universe will reward you much more than a measly $1-3k for freely sharing this information. Give it a try for once.

But the lure of getting something for nothing is strong these days.

If you read my previous post, you would understand that I'm not pimping information.
I have a Maverick coming in mid December that I ordered in January. I've never driven one or even seen one up close. So I have no idea if I will like it more or less than the Sportage HEV I bought a month ago. If I do like it more, I will buy it and trade/sell the sportage. If I don't, I was trying to offer it up to a member of this community seeking one. And basically asking for a finder fee if the buyer would be willing.
For instance, My sportage came with side steps from the factory. I do not want them, so I found a local person that also has a sportage and does want them. We would have to exchange the steps for the rocker panel covers from his as those need to be removed to install the steps. He said sure and then also offered me $100 since it was saving him having to pay the dealer $800 for the steps. I wasn't requiring it, but he realized he was saving money vs getting from the dealer. Thats all I'm asking for here is a courtesy for giving someone first "dips" on my maverick if I decide not to take it.

Also, just out of curiosity, why are you even on this board? This is the Mid-Atlantic section.
You are all on here bashing me for a vehicle you have no intention on buying as you are in Texas and Spokane Washington.
I'm looking for someone local that can realistically come to central PA and purchase the vehicle directly from the dealer.

Do you have an order that you are giving up or do you just know of a dealer that sells at MSRP? If its yours, I can understand asking a fee. If its just a dealer selling them, then no you shouldn't. I know several dealers who sell them at MSRP (when available) and will gladly give that info out.

Edit: Nevermind, you answered the first question already. I would say just buy it and sell it yourself to CarMax or one of the other ones. Let them pay the sales tax.

Well....until it is titled with your name, it really isn't your Maverick, no matter how hard you try to rationalize your actions.

Once you buy it, do as you wish

If I buy it, then I have to pay the sales tax to the state and then carmax/carvana has to buy it from me, etc. Lot of paperwork, credit inquiries and time involved.
My thought was to simplify things by finding a buyer for my maverick coming in and then whoever wants to buy it, work directly with the dealer and then just paypal/venmo me some money for the opportunity. However, with all the hostility I'm getting from this, I think I'll just turn it down if I don't want it, get my $500 deposit and let the dealer sell it to whomever they have on their waiting list. I really didn't expect this was going to be this difficult. I figured someone would be pretty local and want one NOW and be willing to negotiate a little "thank you" cash my way. Especially since, like I mentioned before, I know there are people out there paying 5K+ markups on these to the dealers and to Carmax/Carvana. If not, you'd see used ones listed out there for typical used car depreciation prices. And thats not the case.

I personally don't see anything wrong with your post. It's basically "Maverick for sale for msrp+3k". Big whoop, people can take it or leave it.

The "hostility" comes from you coming out the gate trying to get money from people. Not sure why the explanations above haven't hit home.

You want to get paid for nothing. You put an order in for a vehicle you don't need or want, thus taking away a build slot from someone else. Then you want to be paid to tell where one of the forum members may be able to get it. It's scummy. Free country, be scummy if you want to. But in today's economic and car buying times holding people hostage instead of trying to help each other out is a lousy thing to do in my opinion.

And I'm posting because it was on the recent post list, I clicked, I responded. Way to look out for your fellow posters in this Holiday season.

I honestly don't think a dealer would be "on board" with selling your truck to another person "not you" when all the paperwork is in your name. I think they get dinged by Ford for not selling the vehicle to the person that was COVP'd or ROVP'd by losing future allotments. They also lose the chance to ADM the heck out of someone.

I am not bashing the OP, just stating my opinion on this matter.
