You are correct there is a place that goes in there that is put in it the factory when you don't have the trailer hitch option, But like anything form Ford good luck finding the plate sold out everywhere

My local dealer says it’s on back order with no eta when available, but they placed the order. Found one on eBay for 2x more than the dealer parts price

bumber piece came in at local dealer today, looks like I may end of with an extra one, will let everyone know. Plan to trim and install later this afternoon

This was easy until it came time to actually install the piece. (Or I didn’t know wtf I was doing and did it the hardest way possible). There is A LOT of flexing and forcing around the chain hooks since the part that goes under the bumper cover is too thick to fit between chain hooks and rest of the hitch, but it’s done.
fYI: The measurements are from the edges of the piece that are under the bumper cover, not from only what you can see after installed

I picked up the part today, took less than a week from local dealer. Still have one coming from an online ford parts place? The cutting part was easy with a drill bit (for corners) and Dremel with cutting wheel. Removed 6 screws from bottom of bumper cover. There are tabs for it to snap into the bumper cover, and a couple holes in bottom of plate that match up with bumper cover( I used some plastic rivets I removed and saved from mudflap install for those holes, just had to make the holes a little bigger). The hard part is getting the piece installed around the hitch chain covers

I looked at the hitch install instructions today to see if there's anything that would help with this mod, but the hitch and "bumper" are one piece, install shows removing the bumper cover, then the bumper, installing a bumper with a hitch, and then putting the bumper cover back on, after removing the piece we all need for this mod (shouldn't Ford have left that piece of the bumper cover in the truck somewhere so we all didn't have to buy it.........lol) I couldn't even figure out how to temp remove the trailer light connection, that would help with getting the piece back in place.
I must have tried to get that out for 20 minutes...........lol, not sure removing it will help, unless one would cut more of the bumper cover piece, since the pin connector it has to go back in, but THANK YOU!
