I see a good variety of bed extenders on Amazon for about $179.00. The Ford OEM version is more than double that. Is there a reason to spend the extra for the Ford version? I can live w/I the Ford logo in it.

I prefer the design of this aftermarket bed extender to the Ford version! I plan to buy this model when my Maverick arrives.

All basically the same. May be quality or durability difference, but for double you could just throw it out if it wears down.

I have the OEM extender. I did not order the truck And I bought it from a walk away. I have had the truck 3 months and I took it out and put it in the garage attic. I don’t have a need for it. when it is in the bed it is in the way in my opinion For my requirements.

Installed the aftermarket because the shape of the Ford Accessory was too restrictive (not squared off in the corners) so it impedes carrying long loads.

This is the one I ordered, but any of the squared off type should be good to install:

The pic shows it folded in making a great storage area. I also installed the Ford Accessory bed mat. All works great.

No issues with it hitting the bed cover?

Does not hit the cover. Also works great when moving items longer than 6'.
Do you happen to have the link to the one you bought? I'd like to get one of these and your's seems to be a very solid choice!

Easy to install, it's the assembling of the extender that takes time. Once together, it works as designed.

I plan on getting the after market also. I like the shape better, as another mentioned, less restrictive around the corners.

Called X-Terrain from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093GWYGH5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1

The straight middle, or center, pieces are very tight. So I had to use moly grease on the ends and work them in and out of the right-angled pieces. Once together and installed, all is good. Not sure how other brands are. I decided to get the aftermarket because it is more square than the Ford Accessory extender.
