I love the occasional functionality of a cap but can’t justify 4k on a clunky molded one since it's not something I need every day. I haven't found any company that makes them yet but would love to hear recommendations and some real life pics and reviews

While I do like the idea of them. I just cant see them as being more than 95% water proof. As far as "clunky", that is probably a more accurate description of every type of soft top. But they are more versatile. If you can do one with racks I could consider it.

Depending on where you live these can be an option. I have a friend with one on a Chevy and he is happy. Not 100% water tight but not much rain here and it is much dryer than no top. Also has option of running it with no sides so just a sun shade, nice for his dogs in the back.

Yeah I wouldn't expect it to be as reliable as a hard top for coverage but for the amount of times I would need one it does it's job

Yes this is exactly the reason. If I need to move something that I wouldn't be able to fit under my tonneau that I don't want to be exposed to the elements it's perfect for occasional use
