Watch Ford come out with a King Ranch "Junior" package and stick it in that. 2 tone paint, King Ranch Junior badges, with "real leather" , chrome grill bar, special chrome rims. this time. Buy in price without ADM would be $50K. This will be marketed for the urban cowboy who lives in their New york brownstone, yet wears a Stetson on their head, and some Tony Lamas , or James Leddys on their feet.
These are the same as FIVE Mavericks !!! lol

Would you really want to lose all that valuable storage space the cubby provides??? :ROFLMAO:

Actually, I would.............................;)
I am reminded of my grandfathers 2013 Silverado that had similar cubbies in its interior. The image below is just a generic interior shot, but the cubbies are of similar size to the Mavericks. Maybe its just the placement of the Maverick's cubby.

What are the benefits of a larger screen that people feel like they are missing?

The current one seems big enough for navigation maps, backup camera, audio, CarPlay apps, etc. The cubby provides a nice place to install a mount for my phone. I don’t want digital controls for things like HVAC, since conventional buttons are actually more convenient.

What what am I missing?

Yeah. I have the 2020 Escape with the 8" screen and prefer it over a bigger one. I generally have my screen on either Google Maps, the calm/clock screen, or completely off so t's not so bright. I hate the brightness (even on the lowest setting), especially when driving at night and/or long periods of time. I can only imagine how much more I'd hate it if it was bigger. I am considering trying one of those screen protectors off Amazon to see if it helps with the brightness.

$19,995 is long in the rearview mirror. You're looking at $22,195+ destination now. And as the price creeps ever higher, the compromises become less palatable.
And Sync 4, over the air updates.

I feel there are a couple key variables at play when judging the screens in vehicles (aesthetics, functionality, and overall specs like computing power and brightness) and that this will continue to become a hot topic of discussion over the coming years.

Personally, I believe the sweet spot for landscape oriented screens is 8" on the low end and ~10" on the high end. These "floating" landscape displays that are surpassing the 13" mark seem to become obtrusive additions rather than the holodeck of our dreams. They start to lose simple functionality and become an eyesore as they "challenge" the interior design instead of integrate into it or compliment it.

When switched to portrait orientation, I feel the larger displays become more functional, aesthetically pleasing, and integrate with the design better; but I still wouldn't want one at the expense of losing my old fashioned knobs and buttons.

Optimally I would have loved for the Maverick to ditch the cubby for a better 10" display that has updated computer components and Sync4 (or just a rock-solid wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay integration) while still keeping all the normal buttons and knobs below it: a slightly bigger display would be very useful when it comes to backup/360 cameras and the updated Sync4 system would maximize longevity just that little bit more than the tired and elderly Sync3 system.

I feel the design team for the Maverick had the right idea with the 90 degree angle of the screen and more "rugged" housing with the thick borders around the screen and probably planned for the entire housing to be occupied with a 10" screen (or as part of a premium package), but the Ford bean counters probably came in and put a stop to that real quick. :ROFLMAO:

Maverick Lariat EB, Lux, 360 and Assist, 4k, with retractable tonneau and bed liner, moon roof and extended warranty is closest comparable to Santa Cruz Limited. At that point pretty sure Santa Cruz is cheaper. Santa Cruz has ventilated seat and a rear ac vent. To get cooled sears on Maverick you'd need aftermarket, and then it for sure is more than Santa Cruz.

Maverick has better off road, better towing, motorized rear window, and better looks. Those are the only reason I am going Maverick. Pretty sure I'd come out cheaper on a SC if I dug on on the features I'm getting.
For me to get an AWD Santa Cruz with the turbo engine and a tow hitch (still with the base wheels) is $38K. Its more competitive at base trim levels. But if you start adding options, it is much more expensive. Then is just no argument.

I personally feel the screen is fine, though quite dated. Cubby is clearly a "thing" they added to fill up space. It's nice we have (mostly) grown to adore it for one reason or another.
I really would have liked to see sync 4 included, at least for the Lariat lux. It does the job though.
If I could totally swap the new escape dash/screen for what's in the Maverick, I would in a heartbeat. But I wouldn't trade if it meant less buttons and knobs.

I built a plug in hybrid Escape this morning. just over $45k. Ouch. It's the same price at the Corolla GR Circuit Edition I'm drooling over.

I just like my Maverick too much, although I am trying to figure out what I should sell so I can get the Corolla too lol

Have you considered a kidney?

The Santa Cruz SEL with Activity will give you a nice digital cluster that looks like the one you would get in the Escape but gotta spend 34K for it. So nice things cost money. :)

The Escape cost so much more money that I don't feel bad about it. Compare it to the Bronco Sport and the Maverick is even a better deal. And that is why there is such a long wait to get one.

That's on the Active trim which isn't the Base, though. So add an extra $1345.
Yeah, but the Maverick XKT I've priced is $32k without the Luxury package... For $35K you get the Escape with Hybrid, AWD, ST package (which includes this package upgrade) and a host of other things.... better equipped than a Maverick Lariat....

I bore of hearing how Ford isn't making anything off of the Maverick... Give me a break...

That's why I mentioned Tony Lamas, and James Leddys. These are expensive, but not like that kind of money. James Leddy will even take foot impressions, and they are taylormade to fit. I just go with a typical farm and ranch Justin Roper "work" boot. A bit of mink oil and I'm in business. Want to hear a funny song, check out a song by Texas songwriter Deryl Dodd. It's called "New Tony Lamas". It is on youtube for those who wanna check it out. I been honky tonkin years ago at the Ft Worth stockyards, and seen him and his band play there. This song just fits with the whole country scene vibe from the late 90s, mid to late 2000s. As far as the King Ranch Jr. edition was just poking fun at some of the absurdity of the higher end pricing on trucks.
