I just moved to a large tract farming area in north central Florida which is so sparsely populated there is 1 traffic light.....in the entire county!! I bought a small horse farm and needed a small utility vehicle so I have a 2023 Maverick Hybrid XL on order. I'm retired and gettin' up there yet hoping to live long enough to get delivery :)

If you have a horse farm, I would get a bigger truck for pulling a trailer. A F150 eco boost would be a better fit. Then again, you will have no problem trading it in for a F150.

I guess you didn't look at my profile. I already have my hauler, a 2022 Ram 2500 HD that gets only 15 MPG but can tow all of my horses. I needed the Maverick Hybrid for the fuel economy and to provide light utility for everyday use.

Welcome! Sounds like where my SIL lives, Defuniak Springs. You have to stand in certain spots in the yard to be able to get cell phone coverage.

Welcome to the zoo. Stay safe and don’t feed the trolls. They get a little snarky if you provide ‘em food.

Nice to hear from someone else in north FL. I'm in Pensacola and ordered my 23 Maverick from AutoNation Ford in Panama City. Hoping to get a north Florida meet up sometime in the next year. It doesn't matter where because the drive is half the fun. Of course, we have to keep in mind the price of gas for us Eco owners. I can only get 29-32 mpg from my current 2022 ecoboost Maverick.

That's better MPG than I expected for the ecoboost. Now I'm going to search to find out what real world MPG I can reasonably expect to get with the hybrid.

I have a very bad feeling about where gas prices are headed.

I drove down to Orlando a few weeks ago and with all the traffic on the way down I’m surprised anywhere in FL is sparsely populated anymore. 🤣
Did you move in from out of state?

I actually moved to south Florida (Juno Beach) about 30 years ago from NJ. I really liked northern Palm Beach county way back then as it was way less developed than further south. But things change and the population exploded over time. It's a zoo now.

Two years ago the real estate market zoomed again and I saw my opportunity to make a killing and took it. My new goal was to see if I could find what might be left of "old Florida" and found my paradise 30 miles west of Gainesville.

I still can't believe just how seriously rural this place is. It is because most of the land is still held in HUGE acreage family farms. A big bonus is that large farms equals low population equals low traffic so I can safely drive my motorcycle at speed on excellent farm roads with almost zero cross-traffic. Most cross roads are dirt.

Also, Gilchrist County is the natural springs capital of Florida. We have a long border with the still relatively pristine Suwannee River, underwater cave diving, and, as I said before, just 1 traffic light......in the entire county!!!!

Sorry for the long love letter to my home.

Of course that 29-32 mpg is highway mileage. I did do the cruise control upgrade to my 2022 XL, so that helps for getting better mpg on the highway. I only get 22-23 mpg on my daily 30 mile commute (city traffic using eco mode).

Sorry I just read you had a horse farm. A hybrid Maverick would be a perfect vehicle for your every day driving.

Hi Frank, looking at your profile, I don't see any mention of your other vehicles. Maybe add info to your signature?
Your rural farm life sounds idyllic. Enjoy!
