Area 51 or Atlas Blue ?

Their was a time when car companies realized a bright color vehicle was a rolling advertisement, Austin even made special colors and discounted them to get then on the streets and “in your face”.. great marketing.. and some awesome colors.. lol

Those are some nice colors, just not enough.. but as one of the other comments said, 80%of cars are grey/silver ish, now.. (63% of all statistics are made up on the spot).

64% of the maverick's "Colors" are white, silver gray or black. Kind of depressing.

Atlas blue is nice but seeing a lot of blue and grey trucks, what ever happened to browns and greens? I liked the Area 51 when I saw the Bronco sport before there were any Mavericks on the street. So why not combine blue/grey and you have Area 51. I don't have a favorite color and my other Mav is CG. My only color issue is black, a real pita to keep clean so its a young persons truck that doesn't mind the extra work to keep to nice. Work ruck white is the easiest to maintain.

I wanted a medium metallic brown like my present vehicle. Or, a teal. Hides dirt great. We'll see how my A51 goes. Yeah, no white or black.

I don’t understand why they don’t have green or/and brown. They are not expensive colors. Must be about production volumes.. (cost controls). Thanks for your comments.. much appreciated.

I did wander if all the “muted” colors were a result of pigment shortages.. it does seem grey/white/51 etc are easier and potentially cheaper to make than strong colors.. umm.. will 51 die when (if) supply chains resolve themselves…. ??.. thanks for the input..

Not quite what I meant. I think there are more than a few colors in ford's lineup right now that are in these muted tones and people obviously like them. If they had had a muted olive or forest green I'd have gotten that. I just don't know if car companies will go with these tones from now on or find that the market doesn't want them and move on.

I think that I saw something somewhere that claimed Eruption Green was the least common Bronco color, which is unfortunate because I agree, its very nice.

I think they aimed the color palate first at the young crowd who live near the coast and are going to be driving their kayaks and surfboards around with the Mav, not the rest of us (young or not) who live in the middle bits that may want to be more subdued. Of course, I picked Hot Pepper Red because I figured Mavs might stand out for a bit, so I might as well stand out. And its a great color lol.

I wanted Velocity Blue, but since Ford dropped that one for MY23 (I missed MY22) I think I prefer Atlas Blue. Alto Blue (which I note you don't have in your survey) is a bit dark for me, and Area 51 doesn't have the metallic finish that I want.

I never bought a silver or gray vehicle. I've had a few black trucks. I always am specific and want the best color for a vehicle. On my 2000 Lightning, I was only drawn to black though. Only other choices were silver, red or white. The red had damage on the rocker.

Yes, you are probably right, they aimed at coastal adventure seekers and first truck type people, didn’t realize that their is a massive market for those that don’t want trucks that come with their own zip code…. I have a race red transit, so wanted a contrast or the exact same, the hot pepper is a great color, but just didn’t sit well in my mind beside the transit. I spoke to Tim at long McArther ford about a race red wrap. But got sticker shock.. so factory blue it is. But I play with vinyl myself, never done a wrap, but it may become a race red maverick…. Time will tell..

but your right, the hot pepper is a cool color, quite unique in todays grey parking lots..,

My 2022 (In transit, and currently in Kansas City, so I should have it in a few days) is Area 51, but if I had to do it over again and my only two choices were between A51 and Atlas Blue, I would do the Atlas Blue.
