I know orders for the 2023 models haven’t officially started, but for those of you who have or know of people who have put their name on pre-order lists, are your dealers asking for refundable or non-refundable deposits? I think Long McArthur @fordvideoguy dealership doesn’t require any deposit.

My dealer required a $500 refundable deposit when I ordered in Jan 2022 but Ive heard they all seem to make their own choice. Some do, some don't. I'd assume it would be the same situation for 2023 orders.....each their own

That's right. Look for a dealer that doesn't require a deposit. I gave a $500 refundable deposit but they'll have my money about a year by the time my truck finally shows up.

My 2023 pre-order is in with a local dealer. A $500 refundable deposit was required.
I have full faith in Long McArthur Ford, but I would be skeptical, and ask questions, of any small dealer without a deposit requirement!
A refundable deposit protects both dealer and customer in my opinion.
For me, it provides proof that I have a contract of some type with the dealer! It's up to me to confirm that the buyers contract is clear, correctly written, and COVP'ed in a timely manner.
For the small dealer, it prevents them from wasting valuable resources on Deadbeats, and Zero-Equity flippers. This is especially important now that Ford is penalizing dealers who sell less than 80% of their ordered Mavericks to the original named Buyer!

I just thought of that too. Next month my dealer has my $500 refundable deposit for a full year. September 19 is my base hybrid XL build date. Hoping for delivery by late October.

I figure just shy of a year.

I put a $500 deposit down on my local dealer order on 1/18. Two weeks ago it was still at priority 19 and with the constraints on it I figured it would never get scheduled. I was okay with that because my Granger order got scheduled the week prior with a 10/10 build week. I was planning on getting my $500 back and canceling my local order as soon as the private offer arrived.

Then about ten days ago my local order jumped to priority 2. Last week it got scheduled for what we presume is the last 2022 build week of 11/7. So, now I am "lucky" and have two VINs. My local dealer apparently didn't remove the luxury package so that order has almost all the bells and whistles (for an XLT). I asked them to remove the luxury package just a couple of days after I placed my order, having decided I really didn't need to spend $2500 on it. I got a new DORA from them but apparently the changes never got saved to the system.

So, now I am looking at picking up my Granger Maverick, driving it for a month or two, and then selling it or trading it on the local order with the luxury package. If Mavericks keep holding their value and my local dealer doesn't try any shenanigans that is probably what I will do.
