Hello, I’m looking at ordering Maverick Hybrid when orders open back up this August.
I have never ordered a vehicle or had to deal with a dealer with an order before.

Any advice or tips people can give to help me with the process, is most appreciated.

What should I look out for about a dealer that I shouldn’t order from them or any games they will possibly play?

Do you pay deposit at the time of ordering ? If so how much should it be, not what dealers want it to be ?

I also have a trade in, so I’m not sure how that works if truck won’t be delivered for months. I would also be financing so do I get approved for the truck at ordering ? Or wait until truck actually arrives?

Maybe camp out at the dealers door the day the order banks open? :D

Seriously, there is going to be a mad dash for hybrid orders as soon as the order banks open. I would perhaps leave your name with one or more dealers that have a good reputation to contact you as soon as is possible to put in an order.

#1. understand which options are in short supply and will delay your build
#2. You don't HAVE to leave a deposit, but most people seem to be doing so
#3. Make sure you get a copy of your order printed out from the dealer when you go in
#4. If you don't get a near immediate email directly from Ford after you order, your dealer may not have put it in properly
#5. Be prepared to wait. Some here have been waiting a year already
#6. Financing and trade appraisal will get figured out when you Maverick has been built and you are ready to pick it up.
#7. Check your local dealers Googles reviews etc and look out for them charging large markups or hitting customers with surprise markups during the delivery process. Avoid those dealers
#8. When you order get a signed purchase order saying they will sell you a Maverick at MSRP with no markups.

I would for sure leave a deposite( along with the signed buyers order ) Its called consideration ..

consideration
Primary tabs
Something bargained for and received by a promisor from a promisee. Common types of consideration include real or personal property, a return promise, some act, or a forbearance. Consideration or a valid substitute is required to have a contract.

Welcome to the forum!

step 1: find out what the constraint items are that would hold up your build… there are members here who ordered a 2022 maverick last year this time and are still waiting. there’s a number of factors for this… and a zillion threads on here. Lots of speculation, but if you sift through there’s helpful factual data in some of them. The dealer will know the acurate constraint items… hybriid being one of them.

for dealer i’ll leave that alone cuz you seem to be in america… which i have no experience with.

for deposit/trade in its dealer specific. Mine worked like this: i signed all the documentation, including credit check, final bill of sale, stuff like that, when i ordered my maverick. No deposit. down payment due when i pick up the truck. Trade in is estimated at ordering time and re-evaluated closer to truck’s arrival. This process seemed the safest if you sift through the zillions of dealer disaster threads on here. My experience was great. I used this forum to sift through the ranting and find the useful facts. It make my ordering process much more informed and it went really well.

final tip. If you can get a referral from a friend whos purchased many fords to an honorable dealer it goes a long way. No dealers give ‘deals’ at the moment with this market. But you can at least find someone who wont fleece you.

Coles notes:
any accessory. Just get it after the truck is delivered. Bed liner/tonneau/etc
lux package
lariat package
copilot 360
hybriid (this seems to be the biggest one)
