If you are getting any kind of a tint to block UV A or B through the front windshield you are being scammed. To quote from my default search engine NCBI: Laminated glass totally blocked UVA radiation, All glasses totally blocked UVB radiation.

laminated glass is what is used for windshields and has been for decades

now side windows can allow for higher transmission as they are typically tempered glass.
Nope. I have 2 of the same trucks. One with tinted windshield the other none.

nonsense

The tinted truck is much much cooler inside vs the non tinted truck. I’ll take my real life knowledge over your internet search.

you do realize light comes in different wavelengths right? Like umm infrared and visible and they produce heat too. That’s why tint works. I said if you are getting a coating to prevent UVA/B via the windshield you are getting scammed.
Umm you do realize my “internet search” was from NCBI right? That’s the National center for biotechnology information” aka what pub med is part of and where we store and present medical studies for peer review.

take what you want but a peer reviewed paper that matches my knowledge of spectrography from chemistry trumps your personal experience. We analyze what components are in materials by using their spectroscopy values. These are well known and scientifically verifiable, by any sophomore chemist or physics student.

I'm going to get the windows tinted as dark as is legally acceptable under warranty at a local shop and buy one of those "cut-to-fit" windshield screens, is there anything else I can do to have it not be hotter than a horse in high heels when I get in my car?

Current ride is black - which is obviously just the worst for the heat. Got the A51 Maverick so at least that'll help some.
Just remote start a few minutes before you get it

Then why don’t you apply that knowledge? I said there is no need for a UVAB coating for the windshield as there is no trasmission of uvab through the windshield, I never said anything about it making it cooler, I simply said to those who err saying a ceramic coating blocks out UVAB that it was already blocked.

I left out a key part of my original post. The ceramic tint films have a side benefit of reducing infrared radiation transmission (heat) than their dyed equivalents. The IR is what heats up your car. That's why deploying a sun shade or parking in the shade helps to reduce cabin temperature.

And glass has the effect of trapping that infrared spectrum and reflecting it back (which is why we have green houses)

truth is any light absorbed by anything (as opposed to reflected or transmitted) is going to generate heat. The energy has to go somewhere (ok occasionally it drives other processes but we aren’t worried about Beta emissions photo synthesis or changing the quantum states of e- for the purposes)

you are exactly right the more light you prevent from coming in, the less heat you trap inside.

or you can exchange the heated air, or both.

Go into Ford Pass and START your truck before you get there. It should be cool by the time you arrive.

Best invention ever made in a HOT state.
I will say 2nd best....I have experience the sensation that is air conditioned seats......That might have taken the spot of the remote start......sad this truck doesnt have it

Also, higher quality ceramic tint helps. We have had regular and ceramic and it makes a world of difference. I don’t run my AC half the time. Just fan.
Exactly! Go for the higher quality ceramic tint. It rejects heat much better than non ceramic tint. Not sure how dark you can legally go in Alabama but here in neighboring Mississippi, we're allowed to go to 28 (although you can get away with 20 without getting attention).
