if you have an iPhone you can make shortcuts to replicate all the key fob controls. It still uses the ford pass app so starting the truck can take a few seconds. But with a little know how you could actually automate it. I am sure there is something on android as well.

You have to have the fob in ur pocket to push start the car or it won’t turn on.

Phone as a key won’t ever be a feature for the Maverick. It’s to cheap
Just to clarify, the vehicle starts from the FordPass App. It will not go into gear without the fob present. 😊

One handy detail in the app is the map feature.

It shows you where you car is at all times. Good for if you forget where you parked. Could help if your car gets stolen. Can check on your car when it’s sitting at the Ford dealership waiting to get repaired.

It’s not necessary to download, but it’s kinda cool. It doesn’t cost anything and it’s a modern way to interact with your vehicle.

You can download it and see for yourself. Access to several of vehicle features - lock/unlock, remote start, tire pressure, oil life

If I opt in is there a way to disable certain features? For example; the tracking device.

I had a Check Engine light come on and the App specifically directed me to the coolant. I was able to top it up so I could get my truck to the dealer, so if anything the App saved me driving a few kilometers without coolant. I also like the idea of being able to locate your vehicle and getting readings on fuel and oil. Nothing is really a MUST HAVE, but some cool features that might come in handy once in a while.

You do realize that points are an ongoing benefit right?
I’ve used about 35000 points and have 26000 left. As you move up in tiers things like free pickup/delivery for service opened up.
On top of what others have mentioned you can check on various things when the nowhere near the maverick from “are my doors locked” to “what’s my vin or plate” or remote start. Even better yet you can set a schedule for remote start.
Then if you want more convenience and are a little phone savvy, install the widget that you can search this forum for. The widget is fantastic.
You only get points from buying things or services at the dealer, correct?
I've used all my points and I'll never go back to the dealer unless something breaks so there's really no point.
Now the app is very useful including remote starting, checking on systems, and being alerted when my perimeter plus alarm goes off.

I see your point if you’re not going to use the points. You’re correct, they’re only redeemable at the dealer.
I used points for bed cubbies etc but had planned on going to the dealer for service. My oil change was about 12000 points so I still have enough points for 2 more even if I never collected another point.

So honestly I dont think the tradeoff of using the app - let alone the vehicle tracking telemetry that Ford collects and sells is worth it.

Here is the proper perspective.

If you leave the TCU connected - might as well use the app.

But if you value your privacy - disconnect the TCU and delete the app after activation - at least you'll get your Ford Pass points.

Can go into FordPass on the touch screen and among the options there is one to turn off Location tracking.

Also an option to do the same on whichever external device you've installed the app, though I suspect that may be redundant.

I got the 42,000 points signing up, got a bunch more when I put my downpayment on there and ended up with 129,000 points! I bought a hood deflector and then found out I could order 4 tires for my boat trailer (needs 6 but had 2) so I did that and ended up paying $12.41! I thought it was a great deal and although I don’t need to buy much gas for my hybrid I get more points with this card than my others.
Just curious how you added your downpayment information? I secured a downpayment with the dealer using a credit card and then subsequently already have delivered the check from my finance company even though the truck is still a couple weeks from delivery. I would obviously like to get as many of those points as possible
