This Truck Sips Gas!

Had to report here (as well as anyone I happen to run into) how the hybrid Maverick performed on a recent trip from Cypress, CA to Santa Barbara and back. Filled up the night before 12 gallons or so ... didn't really pay that much attention. I came home with a little more than 1/2 a tankful. What?! A 250+ mile trip and the Maverick used 6 gallons of fuel! While in SB, we also made a trip back and forth to Ventura (about 25 miles south of SB). Just amazing. I probably averaged 60-65 mph as a large portion of highway 101 in that area is under construction, but with SoCal freeways almost constantly jammed the construction probably didn't matter. Not a scientific study, just an observation from normal use. Very happy with this truck performs.

Good to know! I have a 150 mile mostly highway trip coming up and I was worried it would kill my 43 average.

This truck thrives in Los Angeles. I have a terrible work commute (1 1/2 hours going from Norwalk to Century City and back). It’s only 30 miles, but a slog. I’m loving that I’m in electric mode a lot of the time. And I’m glad I only do the drive twice a week.

Good to know! I have a 150 mile mostly highway trip coming up and I was worried it would kill my 43 average.

Not a chance. After posting, I did some math. I traveled about 300 miles the entire trip on 6 gallons. Not hard to figure that's 50mpg!

I hear you. We often times go up to the central coast and have to slug along that route through LA. I can't imagine doing it twice a week let alone everyday as some must. The Maverick almost makes it easy.
