So took the Maverick, loaded up the dog, the dog cage to spend a few days in Crystal Beach. Went here specifically to take the dog and the Maverick directly onto the Beach! Here are some of the trips info.
From Dallas to Crystal Beach(343 miles): Average 34.5 MPG going 65mph on the main highways and 55 on the back roads.
I feel this could have gone higher and higher, but i finally reached my destination

Total Round trip back to Dallas from Crystal Beach (828 miles) 31.0MPG: Standing by itself that doesnt seem so exceptional, BUT i spent a lot of time driving up and down the beach going 15 mpg getting garbage mileage. I saw my 34.5 drop each day to like 29mpg. I also took 2 trips to Galveston that required 4 stops at the Ferry sitting and waiting.

Crazy HIgh MPG 40MPG: It's not hard to manipulate people into thinking you are achieving 38mpg+ constantly. This pictures was take after i got on the highway out of Crystal beach. Its super flat, no traffic, and was just chilling at 55mph. I was holding a steady 40MPG on super flat roads for at least 15+miles until i started hitting some turns, and hills etc. Then it started dropping to my real average 33-34mpg.

Maverick did exactly as i expected on the Beach. Performed very well, and wasn't really any need for Sand Mode. Was plenty of creaks and and groans going over big sand bumps etc but overall smooth sailing. You wouldn't envy the cleaning job ahead of me to remove the sand/Dog hair. Thank god for Tuxmat.

nice... good times. And to make sure these types of days will last, don't forget to hose off the bottom of your undercarriage with tap water as the salty sand will begin corrosion instantly to bare metal parts! And if there is aluminum and steel touching together (as I am sure there is under the Mav) with salt the galvanic reaction will begin instantly.
