Last Summer I got caught up in all the interest surrounding the newly announced Ford Maverick and decided to put down a $100 deposit and ordered one. It was pretty much on a whim, didn't really need a second vehicle since we are retired, and my wife had some physical issues the prevents her from driving much at all. On November 1st it came in and I took delivery of a bright blue turbo XL with only trailer hitch and full size spare as options. To make a long story short it has been sitting in the garage and now has about 750 miles on it and has never been out in rain or snow. I am wanting to get rid of it and was wonder if I should try to sell it back to a local dealer or try to sell it myself, help me decide!

2 options outside of returning to the dealer.

1) Sell it yourself HERE in MTC under Mavericks For Sale in the MarketPlace. Scroll down under FORUM tab until you see it. Take plenty of photos.

2) Open/launch CarMax AND Driveway.com apps and enter the VIN. You will be pleasantly surprised at the appraisal. print both out when you get the appraisal. Both are good for 7 days.

I do not recommend returning it or selling it back to the dealer UNLESS they can match the appraisal provided by CarMax or Driveway.com

Just my 2 cents.

Carmax requires in person appraisals for Mavericks. I had mine appraised at both Carvana and Carmax twice and Carmax matched carvana's price both times without me even telling them what Carvana offered. I have an XL Hybrid, at first they offered me 26k, then Carvana's offer went up to $28,300 a week later.

Carvana has sold XL Hybrids for $35-39k. On craigslist, I could probably get 32-33k if I'm patient enough to deal with a bunch of lowballers, people that just want to joyride the car and not buy it after, and other random people who bail out at the last minute.

Also, I don't think Carvana/Carmax pay extra for added accessories, so I could probably take out my drop in bedliner and all weather floor mats and sell them separately for more money.

Sell to Carvana or one of the other internet car lots, They'll even come and get it

I had a good experience with Carvana back in November when I sold them my 3 1/2 year old Kia Sorento LX FWD for about $800 more than I paid for it new.

Check Cargurus.com as well. They gave me the most out of Vroom, Carmax and Carvana for my Malibu Premier.....like $1000 more than the others mentioned. So much easier than dealing with a dealer, or private sale

I didn't know they were buying directly, had read/heard they seem to be more a dealer-seller facilitator (like KBB's instant offer). Perhaps it depends on where you are located.

I sold my 2015 Sonata Limited to Carvana when I ordered my Maverick. (I still had my 2005 Canyon for transportation) They had the highest offer, I had to send them pictures of my license, odometer, VIN number, and title. They sent a rep to check all was correct, handed me a check. Put the key in a lockbox outside the drivers window, and that was it. We went out to dinner, and when we came back, car was gone! If you try to sell it on your own, you have to deal with people getting loans, finding little thing to bring down the price etc. I dough if you'll get more for it. Let Carvana make money on the financing, and warrantees. That's what they do.
