How is it a miss when it has never been committed to by both companies? I have been following this loosely for a couple years now. Talks between VW & Ford reported/leaked to media were on-again off-again as they discussed re-badging Ranger and/or Tarok for each other's respective market, jointly creating a new product together, a family of new products based on a shared platform and more.

Anyways, last I read it was on hold again but they were not going to revisit until the new Ranger platform is released. It won't be based on the coming 2023 "new" Ranger legacy platform. I don't think VW has settled on a new platform direction for a new Tarok and seems to be concentrating more on developing EVs on new platfoms while still recovering from fallout from smog test cheating scandal. Of course I could be wrong on some of those recollections..
Right, a miss as in missed market opportunity that never got past concept. You've followed it more closely than I. I just remembered the hype a few years back.

A miss was the Cardinal with a V-4. Hank the deuce killed that in early 70's. Emission certification was about 50% completed.

Sister in law lives in Germany. Another cool vehicle actually offered in Europe is Mazda3 with skyactive-X gas engine using diesel like compression ratios. And of course the non-GTI MK8 Golf which was a lovely rental to drive.
I've been waiting for Mazda to release that Skyactive-X engine for a good three years now! They keep teasing it. Don't know what's holding it up. It promised the combination of efficiency and performance that would appeal to me.

C'mon Hyundai, make a truck look like a truck not an SUV with a pickup box. Ford hit it out of the park with the Maverick(y)(y)

Yeah, because this thread was originally posted November 3rd. The similar threads feature likes to guide people into necro-ing old threads.
