A street performance version would make a lot more sense (and cheaper development...) than a more capable off-road version.

I think an ST would be a great addition to the lineup!
My daily driver is a '14 Focus ST with a 6 speed tx hooked up to the 2.0 l turbo. A fun car. I vote for including the Maverick ST!!!

It's all speculation by everyone at this point, given Ford has not officially announced anything.

Follow the clues, Ford's model history, and your own imagination to make a guess. :)
Actually, the CEO announced some time ago the Maverick would become a brand of its own. Not a specific model, but he floated the balloon.

Not trying to stir up a fuss, but I really don't get the big deal about fog lights. I've only had one vehicle that had them. (Chevy Trailblazer) I tried them out a couple of times in foggy conditions and I honestly couldn't tell any difference. 🤔 Never bothered with them again.
I have read that the fog lights are basically built into the headlight assembly. One of our fellow mtc guys gave a 5000 mile review of his maverick and was very impressed with the lights

I just got an e-mail regarding this. It is cool but I have already ordered one that I don’t have yet. I really hope this is not how they replace the Thursday build dates email?

People seem to be forgetting that fog lights have a very low cut off to shine under the fog. No headlights are going to do this because they would be terrible headlights.

I understand what you are saying. But Ford has to keep moving forward. There will be other entries in the compact truck market trying to challenge the Maverick. Perhaps with higher performance as competition now knows what to shoot for. Chip shortage won’t be forever.
Yeah its not like the performance engineers are going to go down to Hermasillo and somehow turbocharge the production line. They would probably bring a covid outbreak and shut down june production. Reminds me of a Dirt Every Day episode where Fred and Dave went to Indonesia, got sick, had the locals build their truck, then got it stuck and left it in a river:ROFLMAO::sick:.

The SvT guys gotta do something, why not put the cheapest rig they got on the track and tweak it.

2023 Ford Maverick ST prototype 13.jpg

Just in! Our spy photographer caught an interesting new Ford Maverick prototype which could possibly represent an early mule for a higher-performance (ST?) variant. This prototype is not wearing a license plate, which may mean that testing is currently limited to the relative safety of Ford’s test track, where our long lens caught it doing laps

Key Camouflaged Elements Suggest Higher-Performance Intentions.
This early prototype is rocking disguised wheel arches, which appear to be flared a bit to allow wider tires. The truck’s wheels are also covered with camo-covered disks. The most interesting bit, however, is found when looking at this Maverick’s rear-end…Is that a dual exhaust set-up?

Dual Exhaust: The Visual Evidence
While the current FWD Hybrid and AWD EcoBoost Mavericks are both equipped with a single exhaust pipe tucked under the left side of the bumper, this new prototype looks like it has dual exhaust outlets. Although photographed from long-distance, it appears that holes have been cut into the corners of the rear bumper—within the protrusions which frame the panel housing the license plate and tow hitch. We took a close look at a production Maverick to make sure that those textured bumper nubs aren’t separate, pop-out pieces, and they are not. Ford engineers had to physically cut these openings, in the perfect place for a dual-exhaust set-up.

Upgraded Intercoolers On Display?
Although fine details elude us on these long-range shots, we think we can see evidence of changes within this Maverick’s front-fascia’s air-intakes. There appear to be new intercoolers visible in the bottom of the Maverick’s primary grille, as well as in the prototype’s lower air-intake, suggesting a possible high-performance intent.

This tantalizing Maverick testbed appears to be an early work in progress, with the key changes focused in all the areas that would be addressed in a sportier variant. Front-fascia design changes would come along later in development, to more artfully accommodate the performance-focused cooling, and provide a more aggressive look. We’ll definitely be on the hunt for a closer look at this prototype, to see what’s going on in higher-resolution form.

That's nifty and all, but I dread when they start emailing out the announcements to people still waiting on their 22's. Lol Happened to my friend who ordered a Bronco, he was still waiting on that and they emailed about the Bronco Raptor.. 🤦‍♀️

Yes, it’s hard to be excited about any possible Maverick model when we can’t get our vehicles after waiting for 10 + months - not to mention the lack of communication from Ford (or the dealer) with informative, helpful updates. Ugh! :)

I don't think anyone's forgetting necessarily, but something to also keep in mind is that the headlights on the Maverick are actually quite low to begin with. I see a lot of similar vehicles tend to have the headlights mounted right up below the hood. The Maverick has the actual headlight portion a good deal lower. Since owning my Maverick, I have yet to encounter a time when I truly felt fog lights were necessary. To be fair I also don't drive all that much or live in an area that has a lot of fog to begin with so probably not the best example. I'm sure there are folks who would benefit greatly from fog lights, but they're certainly not necessary for everyone.

If I add fog lights it will be purely for aesthetics with the occasional use when absolutely necessary. I think the blanks in the bumper just look like something's missing. If a decent looking, relatively simple to DIY installation type of kit comes along, I'll probably bite. I'm not holding my breath from a solution from Ford though.

It sure looks like an even sleeker fender flare option is coming along aside from the current Air Design and Bushwhacker offerings. Really hope they make those available separate. I could use just a touch of coverage all around. I'm talking like 1/4" - 1/2" without as much added height as the Air Design ones. I'd love just a small, form fitting lip around the wheel wells like you see on the F150s OE Style flares.
