I really think Ford has struck gold with the Maverick and they just really wanna play their cards right. In my opinion, this will out sell the Lightning by far! Not everyone will have access to home charging unit. Its still an expensive truck even if you maximize the tax incentives. Also, Ford doesn't have their own charging stations like Tesla and with an average range, you probably wouldn't want to go off roading with it.

Now with the Maverick, a lot more people can achieve the base model. It gives you access to a great mpg truck with a usable bed. This may take out a lot of cars out of the picture in multiple segments! The sedans, cuvs, heck even the Prius and other tried and true hybrid cars would probably see some dip on their sales.

people seem to think that selectic a car is picking a color. We have to see how this truck drives. It is still a betta product.

I keep telling my wife that the only way I’ll pass on the Maverick is if it is the world’s worst driving car, and I have a feeling that will not be the case. I also know that most people probably feel the same way.
I’m looking forward to seeing driving reviews, but I don’t see it changing my mind.

I agree. I went into Ford wanting a lightning and ended up walking out more curious about the Mav. I was convinced when I learned the difference between CVT and eCVT.

That being said, I wanted to throw in one thing about the lightning, I was told that the Lightning would be able to charge using Tesla stations. Still not enough to make up for the double base price, but I thought it is cool.

I am seeing drive reviews of the Santa Cruz already with the evaluators already claiming it's a better truck than the Maverick. Why? Because you get to drive that one? They claim it is even cheaper comparing the mid level SC to the Lariat Mav. Blahahaha... Seems it is difficult to get impartiality even with consumer wannabe journos just like the ad revenue rag professionals.

I don't expect Ford fanboy reviews but it reminds me of the Escape Hybrid drive comparison with the RAV4 Hybrid I watched (YT) from a Canadian couple in Vancouver. The Escape was quicker, better visibility, handled better (all their opinions), got significantly better FE (real driving loop following each other), the Adaptive Cruise worked better (opinion), and was cheaper. The synopsis was 'buy the Toyota' because it's a Toyota. Hmmm, okay.

I agree with some of the sentiment here...unless it's a total dog I am already sold. My only issue is going to be parting with my Fusion Platinum...that thing is a Lincoln MKZ with a Ford badge!

TBF they may believe what they are printing, and they may have driven both vehicles.

some of my favourite movies have terrible IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes scores: I mean Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter only gets a 50 on IMDB?

I drove an SC, ok for me but my wife had blind spots like crazy. It does drive just fine but I don't think it drove close to our escape.

I think the Santa Cruz serves a different purpose. Call it upscale "doers" It is comfort creature ammenities first and utility second. Where as the Maverick, utility and practicality first and cabin features second.

I believe they're not even on the same class. Thus shouldn't even be compared. The only reason they are always pitted against one another because they share the compact title and they are firet of their class in the new era. Other than that, they are very different in terms of attracting customers.

With that being said, just on paper, having a hybrid truck at an entry level price, is going to be a game changer! It'll be first in everything! It will shift the automobile market! A lot of car makers will be force to have something at this segment. I mean why buy a 30k hybrid sedan that can only get you from point A to point B efficiently when you can buy a hybrid truck that will do that and a whole lot more?! How about the cuv segment? Individuals who like to seat higher off the ground and the convenience of the extra space and storage of a backseat and hatch? The Maverick's got that covered as well!

The pure electric market? Well again, charging stations, propreitary or not, it takes a lot of time if you have to charge outside considering the volume of people wanting to charge and the lack of stations.

I believe the Maverick will even be a threat to the Rivian truck, the Cybertruck, and previously mentioned, the Lightning. Gas isn't going away anytime soon as much as they want to push for more electric vehicles. The infrastructure simply ain't there yet for everyone to be in one.
