So, as stated in the title line, I will be placing my order for my Maverick when the MY23 bookings begin in August. To those who have ordered and received thier trucks, what pitfalls would you advise someone to avoid in the process? Dealership issues? Problems with ordering? Looking for information on others experiences.

Make sure the dealer knows what the ROVP (Retail Order) is and that YOUR information be placed in the order. Required: full name, address, email address, & phone number.

GET a copy of the retail order once placed. The retail order has room for 2 emails, so one MUST be yours while the other can be someone at the dealership.

When creating your vehicle on the Ford website, add everything you want because IF it is limited, restricted, or discontinued after a certain time, the feature is still on the retail order. Any major changes will change the retail order date: engine, any of the packages (if you add), and any add-ons NOT in the packages. (First Edition only for 2022 MY.)

Just my experience.
(Was it worth spending $34,160 for Lariat First Edition Hybrid!!! Definitely!! I'm satisfied.)

I might not be understanding your reply...but if you are planning on ordering a FE (first edition) hybrid for 2023 I have some bad news for you.

I've misspoke. It will be a lariat lux, not a FE. Corrected the original post. My apologies.

Make sure you lock down your deal at the time you order, including the total price. Others may differ, but I think the best way to do that is to make a deposit, complete a buyer's order, have it signed both by you and by the dealership, and take home a copy.

Some dealers may say different, but there is no reason why the dealer can't specify every cost (doc fees, TTL, taxes, everything) and give you a total final out-the-door price at the time you order. Beware of any situation where the dealer wants you to sign but won't sign himself. A writing signed only by you does not bind the dealer to sell you the truck at the expected price.

There are many posts on this here on the forum. Search for "buyer's order" to find some of them.

Once again Ford doesn't require a deposit for the Maverick and in no way will that guarantee what will pay for your truck by the time it gets to the dealership. You need to get a buyers order spell out exactly what you're ordering and what the total cost will be, License fees state tax and most important any ADM and be sure to add the trailer hitch even if you don't think you'll be towing anything as the factory price is $100.00 verses after market is like around $500.00. Just make sure you have all the options and paint choice before you hit the order button changes can be made but at the Perial of delaying your build. Good Luck

I think you stopped reading halfway through the second sentence in my post. :sneaky:

I didn't say putting down a deposit guarantees your price. I said you need to get a signed buyer's order that specifies all the costs. But my experience is that it's easier to get a dealer to sign a buyer's order if you put down a deposit.

As for your warning about hitting the order button... Be aware that that does not actually submit your order. All it does is send your information to the local dealer, who is supposed to contact you, verify your choices, and then submit your order to Ford (see here). You can make changes with the dealer before the order is submitted.

Yea you're still giving advice and telling people to give them a deposit when it's not required

And yes you are correct until the dealer sends the Dora to Ford and sends a return dora from them with your order that's when you're committed

Research your dealer and ask questions about their allocation history and how many Mavericks they've sold by the time you order, and how many rollover 22s they might still have on their books.

The OP didn't ask for the minimum requirements to place an order. He asked for advice on avoiding possible pitfalls.

I gave him my take on the best way to make sure that his order is handled correctly. (And my advice includes a lot of things that aren't required -- getting a commitment on doc fees, TTL, etc., getting a signed buyer's order.)

BTW, if you really think it's wrong to advise people to do things that aren't required by Ford, why did you advise the OP to get a buyer's order? You know that's not required by Ford, don't you?

This is taken care of ;). I'm fortunate that my employer purchases 10-15 vehicles a year and will be working with thier contact within the dealership who is possibly the largest ford dealer in my state. It's a long story, but they should have no issue obtaining the particular truck I'm looking for.

This is what happened will my initial reservation last year as it wasn't ordered. Different contacts within the dealership now, all should work out
