My dealer won't give me a rail car number or visibility report. I'm just trying to track the Maverick using the cxs automated phone line. But I can't do that without the rail car number. Any idea why?

They won't be able to see the rail car number until it arrives at a railyard. Why they would not give you a visibility report, I have no idea.

Probably going to sell the truck to someone else. A little ADM never hurts, either.

I'm not sure what good the rail car number will do you anyway, unless you're planning a train robbery :)

dealer is not obligated to give that to you. 1 of the drawbacks of these message boards is people start to feel entitled to things they never would have even known about before the internet.

just relax and don't worry about tracking every movement of your vehicle just because some people have been able to. If your shows up, it shows up. If it doesn't it doesn't. Completely out of your control and does no good to obsess over it

He is required to give you the product you ordered in a reasonable amount of time and give updates and dates so you can plan your life around the delivery date. If he refuses to work with you, don't buy anything from him ever again.

A good dealer will you keep you updated, but cannot control when you receive the product you ordered.

lol! that's the opposite of reality. Dealer in no way responsible to help you plan your life and can't make any guarantees about when (or IF) you get your ordered product. Everybody certainly has the option of where to spend your $ if you don't think you are treated right(y)

My dealer also would never provide the vehicle visibility report and phone calls to Maverick customer service were also not helpful. 30 days after it was shipped it showed up. Actually 7 days before the earliest day on the original estimate provided in the Tracker which eventually went blank as to ETA. I would check tracker each morning and on Thursday this week it said it was at dealer for final preparations. Dealer never called. No email from Ford. I drove down to dealer and saw it in lot with my VIN number. Ummmm. But by last night it was in my driveway. I had planned to pay in full. Dealers want you to take a loan and told me 0% was no longer available. Based on other comments on site I insisted the Dealer check the Vincent System? And eventually they confirmed I was price protected at 0% for 36 mos. Your vehicle will eventually get to you but be a knowledgeable buyer and don’t let the dealer take advantage of current economic conditions and rake you over the coals trying to squeeze every penny out of you they think they can get. I paid MSRP 9 mos after it was ordered with no signed docs other than original DORA. Good Luck

I have seen the printouts the sales manager receives every day on all the vehicles his dealership has ordered. It's true he doesn't have to give the customer any of that information but, as a jester of good will, give him what you have on the sheet. If he wants to track it by some miracle way, give him the opportunity. My dealer went down his list and I saw 25 Mavericks still not scheduled for a build. He showed me where my Maverick was and the CSX number and the date it was to arrive at the Jessup rail yard in Jessup, Md. It even had a trucking service to deliver to dealership four days later.

I guess the problem is no dealer wants to be held to any type of schedule now a days with so many irate customers.

True, nothing is guaranteed or 100% committed until the final deal is done. Don't need help "planning my life" (never worked anyway) but it is 100% reasonable for a buyer to expect decent and transparent updates on an order for a relatively expensive product.

My dealer said it was dealer information only, but if you ask him simply for the rail car number he might give you that. Mine did. However don't get overly excited with that. You can only track that so far and then you have to have the transportation company that will deliver it to your dealer. Good luck getting that!
However mine certainly was worth the wait;)

I have called my dealer exactly 3 times:
Day I ordered over the phone with no deposit.
The next day letting him know e-mail confirmation from Ford to my E-mail had my last name misspelled.
The day I got the snail mail brochure offering $2500 or $750 ford Cask for ordered or delivered certain vehicles bought before 4 April. The later to ask if he thought my Maverick was or was not excluded. It was not. Unfortunately no way it will arrive by 4 April

I have emailed him twice, once with my Xplan PIN, Once with a question on Xplan AND Military $500 cash discount stacking. Yes he will honor both

There is no better way to ensure a dealer thinks of you as a PITA customer than to call month after month and week after week and day after day asking for some update.

OF course some of you will note that a GOOD DEALER will keep all his customers informed on every aspect of their order. Given todays labor shortage, reduced staffing at most dealers for lack of ANY volume in stock to sell, I think in most cases this is an unreasonable expectation.

I am amazed at the number of Mav waiting buyers on this site how many don't have good enough information from Ford.

I can only assume you and the dealer did NOT check ALL the boxes on order day. This includes completing the COVP Customer Order Verification Process.

Example of good enough commo from Ford.

On phone no deposit customer order by Hill Country Ford in Goldthwaite Texas:

Velocity >Blue, Eco 2.0, Lariat, 360, Lariat Lux, AWD, 4k tow, SIBL, ordered 10/27 accepted e-mail 10/29

Thu Dec 9, 2021, 9:56 AM email Schduled for 02/14 production
Thr Jan 27, 7:29 PM Reschedule email. New build date 02/21
Sat Feb 5, 7:42 PM Reschedule email. New build date 2/27
Fri Feb 11, 7:09 PM Reschedule email. New build date 3/14
Fri Feb 18, 7:18 PM Reschedule email. New build date 3/28
Thr Feb 24, Fri 25, Sat 26, Sun 27....NO new e-mail from Ford
Fri Mar 4, 7:11 PM Reschedule email. New build date 4/11
Fri Mar 11, 7:17 PM Reschedule email. New build date 3/21

And I expect a build completion ready to ship email with estimated delivery date I will not pester anyone if the estimated delivery date comes and no truck.
