So my recent conversation with my dealer reports that they are using the Maverick semi-conductor chips for all the parked F150-‘s. Sounds a bit sketchy to me but who knows. Does anybody have any insight on this?

Even though the F150 is more profitable, there are A LOT more Mavericks ordered. As a company, I would really consider giving priority to the Mavericks. Just because a vehicle is more expensive doesn't really mean anything. Maybe 500 people ordered an F150, but if 5000 Mavericks are ordered, you make much more money selling the Mavericks. People are so desperate for the Maverick that they would do what it takes to get it. The F150....not so much as there is tons of them for sale brand new. Just for a basic business standpoint.

The F Series is not only Ford's most profitable vehicle but it has been the best selling vehicle in the country for something like 40 years. Ford sold over 700,000 F Series trucks in 2021. At best, the Maverick will probably do 100,000 sales.

Not sure what you base this on, but the F150 is 5% of the entire US car market. There are more F150s waiting for chips right now than the number of Mavs expected to be produced in a year.

It was hypothetical, but Ford estimated there are about 60000 F150s on hold due to the chip shortage back in August. However, they have replenished their supplies and managed to ship a lot of these already. So not that many are on hold for the MY. The F150 is America's Best Selling Truck, so yeah I figured that it is 5% of the car market. But are they waiting on chips for them? Not as much as we may think. I could be wrong though. I do know that supplies have been replenished, so Ford could have thrown all the chips for the other Ford vehicles and put it on the F150 so now few of the other vehicles can be built lol.

You think there are more Mavericks ordered and yet to be built than the number of F series trucks they build and sell??

Lol, no.

I also heard something similar, the F-150 has been the best selling truck for 45 years and they don't want to lose that title to GM or Ram.

No. I apologize, I communicated what I was trying to say incorrectly. But I did double check the numbers online. I was trying to say that at the moment, not as many F150s are on the lot waiting for chips as Ford just replenished their chips for the F150s. So there isn't as much waiting on the lot as it was back in August, which was approximately 60,000. My mistake was saying that there was more Mavericks ordered. That was my bad. Obviously, there are more F150s ordered as it is the #1 truck in America.

F-150 guys have deeper pockets. And FoMoCo knows where their bread is buttered. So I guess that makes sense.

Ford is a corporation, owned by shareholders. They are going to focus on revenues and profits. Regardless.

But not all chips can just be used in other product lines, and their respective parts. Not everything is interchangeable. It all depends. But where a chip for a Maverick can be used in a more profitable vehicle line and they can re-route them, that's what they're going to do. Jim Farley told shareholders that the other day.

Tough times. It sucks.
