I currently take my pickup out to open fields in wildlife areas to look at the stars or full moon. Usually have some music playing with the windows down, but don’t leave it on too long to protect the battery. Can a portable radio or cell phone be plugged into the truck bed like you would at home ?
You sure could! You can put a cigarette lighter socket on a wire. Mine came with like 6 feet of wire so you could make it to the preferred length and add a plug like I used or something that you may have for 12 volt. It would be sweet and then if you find other uses for other 12 volt things use the same connection and it adds so many options. If you are interested in the XT-60 connectors just go to amazon and purchase there. Solder the connector to the supplied wire(from Ford) like I did and you will be rockin' it.
It's snowing like crazy out right now and I am not going outside. The socket and connector is in my truck so I will post it later if you need a visual.
OR!!!
It looks like you ordered an XL so you could actually add a marine grade cigarette socket to your storage door. Then wire it up using the supplied harness from Ford and you would be setup as well. It just depends what you are thinking about!

You could also do this and again with common sense you could run small things too!
So you can see the things that can be done and this is exactly what the Ford engineers were thinking about when they built this into our trucks. Smart thinking!

Today I tested out the inverter in the box. My one plan is to use it to recharge my "Amo Battery Box" and it worked perfectly as I expected. I could charge the Amo box while driving to a campsite, cottage or going fishing. The Amo box can run a fish finder, charge my phone and even use it as a light source. They are handy and a lot of fun to build.

Now that I have drove my truck a few times there are three things I don't care for. The first is the space between hood and windshield(cowl area) This space is difficult to clean out when there is a heavy amount of snow fall. This isn't a huge deal but when I saw the truck for the first time I figured this would be a challenge. I know myself I will try to keep this cleaned out as much as possible so the wipers can move freely. Plus the wipers can't be pulled back out of the way to make this job easier. It's not a huge deal but is something I noticed.
The second, is all the messages you get on the screen as you prepare to drive. Just something new and will get use to this. OK, OK, Ok, Ok ...
Thirdly, I also wish that when you change a drive mode it stayed on the last setting when you restart e.g. eco mode.
These are a few different things that make a "new" vehicle new and most of us don't like huge change, so I will adapt. Overall I do enjoy driving the truck. This is my first truck purchase and @ 56 I can see the size for washing, clearing snow and climbing in and out will be great. Can't wait to pick up some wood from the lumber yard. (y)

I do a lot of things with solar and battery boxes I build. My plan is to use the 400 watt inverter in the truck to charge up my new Amo box I just built a week ago. It has (4) 10ah lithium iron phosphate batteries and it weighs in under 12lbs. I will be testing it when the weather warms up a bit. So enough of that, I noticed a really nice thing about the truck. I find the look over the hood is really good and overall the view is great. The "B" piler is a little wide so it will take some time to get use to that. I had a 2014 Taurus so I was use to blind spots! The truck really handles nice and for me it has lots of power. I have not put the "peddle to the metal" like Johnny says on his Youtube. The cruise control reacts really well too when you are leaving a 60km zone and accelerating to 80km. The ride is very quiet so I am very pleased. I just wanted to tell everyone how my first experience was with this little gem. I will be installing my snow tires in a few days because I had to buy new steel rims because the taurus bolt pattern is different. I took that opportunity to paint the rims with about three coats of high gloss black paint. My snow tires from the taurus will fit on my new rims. I will update everyone if this is successful.
Yesterday I got my snow tires installed. Everything went great! I bought my rims before I received the truck. I painted them with a paint from CT and it's made for roll bar and chassis(VHT) gloss black(CSP670). We will see if it holds up! I sanded the rims lightly then wiped down with isopropanol. Then applied light coats (3). One can did all 4 rims. I am thinking I will touch up the wheels weights when the weather warms up a bit. The one thing I noticed was the front calipers have very little clearance with the rim. Other than that, they will do the trick!

Wednesday Feb. 9th I drove to my dealer and had a tonneau cover installed. I am a first time truck buyer so all this stuff is new to me, but I can see why most have covers. I was getting tired of shoveling out the snow in the box so now it will stay nice and dry. After my 3 hour trip my truck needed a bath so I washed it before I took the picture. The cover kept the inside dry and I like the look! The dealership charged me $40.00 for the install so I was ok with that. Very happy so far!

Looks great! Agree about keeping snow out. $40 CAD? That's a steal for install! My dealer wanted $180 USD. No way. I did it myself in 20 minutes. I definitely would have paid that. Awesome.

Yeah, I agree with your 3 points. Especially snow removal from the cowl. Not anything I can't live with, but it's definitely more difficult and time consuming than any other vehicle I've had. And almost always needs gloves, because I have to Hand scoop put parts. Glad the Maverick is low to the ground so I can reach across pretty well. I

'm also paranoid I am going to scratch the edge of the hood. Got to be careful with the ice scrapers and brush handles. I do appreciate the wiper defroster though. They do help in clearing.

Hi everyone! I just picked up my truck yesterday and I must say I had mixed emotions until I turned the key. I have never drove a Hybrid before and I can see I am going to love it. I find its like having a "Jake Break" and it slows you down perfectly for reduced speeds when entering a town, village or city limits. I have good size hills around to so I tested that out as well. I just finished making a 12 volt wire harness with the supplied wire that came with the truck. I soldered a XT-60 female connector to the wire so I can use it for any 12 volt device I may want to power up from either side of the box ports.

I also ordered a tonneau/bed cover

I bought them on Amazon.ca (Amass 10 pairs XT60) They are used in RC battery connections but they work great for any 12 volt connection that uses 12 gauge or higher (12-20) If you need 10 gauge wire size then I would use the XT90 connectors. They work great and it takes some force to disconnect, plus there are no locking tabs to break like on some automotive connectors.

Thanks everyone for your interest in what I have been doing since I got my truck! I would really like to get a small aluminum framed trailer so I could convert it into a sleeping unit. Then I could travel and not have to sleep in a tent. Plus I could pimp it out with solar/batteries(LiFePo4) for all my creature comforts. (y);)

How much did you pay and where as the only thing that came up was chrome lock nuts.

I just looked up steel rims off TireRack site in the US(live in Canada) and the 17X7 with a offset of 52mm size and the tire size I am using is a Michelin X 225/65 R17. Now I am using the snow tires from my Ford Taurus because my tire shop said they would fit fine(which they do)

Hi everyone! Yesterday I picked up some lumber because I had a small project to build. I must say the truck was great and I can definitely see I will be using it lots. I brought home 8' 2x4's, 8' 2x6 and a 4'x8' sheet of plywood. It was so nice to not pay for the 4x8 sheet to be cut down so I could get it in my car 😁. I have never owned a truck until now so I am learning why people own trucks. I used the tie downs and it secured the load perfectly. I did notice that the cables that hold the tailgate are different lengths, so I will be saying something to my dealer the next time I am there. I feel it should be balanced. Anyone notice this yet? It only is slack on the left side when using the support mode (for 4x8 sheets). I hope this doesn't mean the upper post isn't in the proper position, this would suck.

I totally agree! I used to pay for the homedepot rental haha to get stuff home. I love doing stuff around my house, a truck for that will be wicked.

Yes, lots of people have noticed it. I can't find the thread, but the lengths were the same, it was the left side mounting point was a touch off compared to the right side.

This is an update again, I was driving the other morning on the 402 highway at posted speeds of 110km's and I couldn't help myself to get a bit aggressive to go around a transport truck. It was swerving all over the road so I put my foot into the accelerator to get by it. This little truck responded perfectly and for me I don't need a rocket ship to pass. Since the highway wasn't very busy I was just enjoying my drive and I did take notice of how the hybrid gauge increases and decreases its % of battery power when there are hills. It seems to run at 10-15% at the speed I was at and increases to around 30%. This is very cool how it works together with the engine. Here's a thought, I wonder how many RPM's the gas engine runs at in normal conditions with the cruise on? I am a bit surprised Ford didn't include a RPM gauge option like in my Taurus. Maybe a RPM gauge could be added to the cubby hole next to the screen in the dash.
I have a nephew waiting for his Maverick and I can't wait to go for a ride in his truck. He ordered an Eco-boost engine with the Lariat trim so we can compare the two!
