Your 100% correct, but I'm already under MSRP with my positive equity on that trade. You think this market is nuts have you tried to buy a house recently? No appraisal, no inspection, $50-100k over asking/value.

I know the world you're talking about, and I miss it too but that's not life today. I know by buying this truck I'm part of the problem.
Everyone else is jumping off the bridge, that is excellent justification for me to jump as well!

The trade is your money, don’t take it off the price of the truck to make yourself think it’s ok to get ripped off.

but, you do you

Meh, a couple years from now ford will be putting rebates on these to move them.
and when that happens you can remember this thread and say, told ya but I doubt that'll be anytime soon! Likely not soon enough for you to even remember this convo lol

I won’t need to tell you I told you so, you will always remember you paid too much. I don’t care if you overpay. You asked for an opinion and I think anyone that pays over sticker on a vehicle that will be so common in two years it will have incentives is a fool.

I dont think you understand, in the normal world your living in, I am ripping them off on the trade. There is no one in their right mind that would ever expect to get MORE for their 5 year old, 41k mile car then they paid for it 2 years ago. Please let me know good sir the last time you got more for a trade then you paid for it.

I get the ideals your standing for and I agree with then. I'm not advocating to jump off the bridge, I'm saying treat others as you want to be treated lol

Why do you insist this is one deal? It’s not. It’s two. The price of the vehicle you are buying has zero to do with the vehicle you are selling.

lmao I wont remember bud, sorry if that bothers you more then the idea of me overpaying. Will it suck, sure, do I want to do this, nope. Will it linger in my soul until the day I die knowing I overpaid for a 2022 Ford Maverick and that Dun4791 told me so!! Nope. I wanted value added opinions which I got in spades, name calling was not requested, nor appreciated but I do thank you for the attempt at helping (did you do that?)!

Then if you don’t want to do it, don’t. Seems simple.

By thinking you're coming out ok you're just falling for their shell game. Ever see the con in the movies where a guy asks someone at a register for change for a $50 but then starts changing his mind on the denominations until the clerk ends up conned out of $100?

That's the number game they're playing on you.

I'd do a nationwide search and spend a little to fly before I'd go anything over $1k in ADM.

Not so sure about that.

I suspect that fleet and government sales will skyrocket.
Maybe fleet, but government doubtful because they aren’t American made. The explorer will always be the leader there. And with the bronco sport immediate popularity cooling off already, they can just build less of those and more mav if that’s the mix they need. I’ll even go three years from now for the sake of argument but something new will come along, and the market will stabilize.

So it gets tighter. So you have to wait a few months longer.

I don’t understand why anyone would pay over sticker for any vehicle ever.

Lots of rich people who just don’t care about money out there.

I wouldn’t pay one dollar over sticker, ever.
Take it easy dude. The market doesn’t care that you wouldn’t pay over sticker. I don’t want to pay over sticker either, but supply and demand determines price, not my wishes or desires,

ALL I was stating is that there is a chance that Fords announced “no new orders” MIGHT make them even harder to get, thus raising how much markup a dealer can get or what you as a current owner might get on a sale.

There are (relative) deals out there. I was able to find an in-transit Bronco Sport Badlands that I got for MSRP. After getting it, i priced a Vroom offer...they offered me $4000 over sticker, and I see them with ask prices on places like cars.com at 6-7k over sticker ....USED.

It is what it is.. It will come to an end (cars selling over MSRP), but with inflation roaring, that end might be at higher prices than we are seeing now. That is the reason why I jumped on the Bronco Sport even though I had a Maverick on order (and still waiting).

I'm telling you, I've looked, not for 2.0 which I'll do as soon as these dealerships open back up tomorrow. It's slim pickens out there and I have to trade in my car for that added value so I cant fly its a drive in both directions. Please prove me wrong by showing me a lariat at or near MSRP I could buy or put a deposit on right now.

And I dont think I'm coming out ok, just not extra screwed as if I was only buying it for $6k over without my trade.

Try Carvana and Carmax, etc. I think you might be surprised over what they offer.

I don’t think it’s supply and demand as much as impatience. There seems to be a general sense of urgency with purchases that defy logic

If the transaction isn't one, I lose the tax value of the trade in my state ($2k value).
