in this video the Ford Dealer Long McArthur says that they will be able to sell the 2.0 stocks unit maverick they soon will receive even before retail vehicles are delivered.

A local dealer told they can not sell them and these stock vehicles will not even appear on car sales websites, (autotrader., cars.com..) fact that makes harder to understand when a vehicle is available in the showroom.

Is there a mileage or time on the lot requirement before a stock vehicle can be sold? or is just paying some $ above msrp and is yours?

Dealers cannot sell a vehicle until it is “released for sale” by the manufacturer. Until then, the dealer will not have the window sticker or the MSO (Manufacturer Statement of Origin). The dealer would not risk losing the franchise over it. Typically, the GM will have the keys locked in the safe until approval is received

I believe that stock trucks need to be used initially for demo purposes and have to be driven for several thousand miles before they can be sold to the public, however if the dealer has a large enough allocation and all they need to keep for demos are a couple of trucks, they are allowed to sell those trucks and all the other trucks that customers walked away from for one reason or another. Ford wants to get away from giving out all those incentives in order to move dealer inventory. They will still give the dealers some stock trucks to sell but they like our reservations and orders better and it will likely be the way to buy vehicles now and in the future.

Stock trucks are trucks that the dealer ordered for inventory. If you've ever gone to a new car lot and bought a car from the lot, you bought a dealer's stock truck.

I'd imagine the dealer isn't looking to stockpile Mavericks on their lots and hold them for months for Ford. There isn't a mannequin program like the big bronco here so there's no mileage requirements for the stock unit sale. Dealers will be selling their initial stock allocation as soon as they can.

Ford is happy to put 10-20 of these on every dealer lot to advertise locally and get people excited about them. I'd expect markup on a lot of the stock units so I think ordering from a discounting dealer is still the way to go, even if the wait is longer

Same should apply to Bronco Sport. Visited a Ford Dealer 2 weeks ago and was told and saw 2 Bronco Sports that were delivered that week on the lot…was offered a test drive since it was a demo model…too busy at the time but went back 1 week later and was told that both Bronco Sports had been sold.

Broncos have been released for sale. I would expect the first Mavericks to arrive on dealers lots about a week prior to “release“ . Typically these vehicle are marked clearly, “not for sale”, . Right now, you probably know as much as any sales person about the Maverick. The staff has to be trained. The very last thing Ford wants is a sales person selling a car they know nothing about.
when I did dealer audits, new models not available for sale did not show up on our audit reports as the dealer does not have the necessary documentation to sell the vehicle, and as such technically not in his inventory
