Here’s a better picture. Looks worse the more I look at it.
Rock or not, the plastic looks pitifully thin.

It's sad, actually.

And while I accept that the Maverick's low starting price requires that the truck use inexpensive plastics, there's no reason that it should be this flimsy.

Surely, in the future, the Maverick's detractors will use this as a talking point when they look upon her history.

Fortunately, the rock didn't fly up an inch higher; your hood would've required a significant repair.

Go to home depot get a length of cove base in flat black a small tube of gorilla glue .Cut the cove base to size gorilla glue to the grill .Save the rest of cove base and gorilla glue for the next rock . Total expense under $20 or call your insurance co and get a rate increase and a $250 deductable bill it realy sucks but shit happens

Not sure what state you're in or what kind of insurance you have, but I have zero deductible comprehensive coverage that would pay for this.
Lived in three different states with coverage. 2 full coverage states and one partial. 2 in the Midwest and one in the South. Never heard of that kind of coverage outside of Car Shield. I could get a zero deductible for windowshield chips up to 3 inches. State Farm and Farm Bureau.

Something hit it. period. It didn't just break apart. I could fix that in about 15 min but I would probably use that as an opportunity to trim all those out or at least that one and the other matching on the other side so it looks right.

First post here !Not sure how this has happened.. or what to do now. Losing sleep knowing it is winter and all the salt and sand will be building up inside of here. Very disappointed on this quality of material. Looking for some advice … should I call my dealership? Local body shop ? Will follow up with a better picture. Thanks everyone.

Some clever suggestions on how to fix this problem should others have something similar happen to their beloved Mavericks! This is why I hang out on this forum.

As for the sniping and insults? Kind of a bummer. For some reason, the internet often brings out the worst impulses in people.

We should not assume something hit it. That is like saying the windshield getting cracked on the lower corner is because something hit it.. Assuming this you would be wrong because come finding out it has happened to multiple people in the same spot.

So we just dont know if this is just one of those defects yet or possibly an object.. Time will tell ..

This is likely to happen a lot. I can't wait to see how much the parts counter wants for this POS piece of plastic. Most grills I have had in the past were louvers, or ribs with holes. You got a bit of reinforcement from the shape, so when it impacted the rock was likley to deflect/ding vs break the rib. This looks like a perfect storm of cheap plastic and large flat areas. Someone will make a decent buck selling polyurethane/stainless steel grills in the near future.

Now that I see this, I would dremel out all those holes and make it a functional air intake.

Once its off the lot, not their issue. Just glue something over it. Its broken, and was out of your control. Id just put some all weather tape as a mickey mouse fix during the winter.

Plus the rest of the grill is exposed, so idk how much impact a little hole will have.
