My calculations says the difference is 28.5" x 8.9" vs. 29" vs 9.3" vs. 29.5" x 9.6 "

Doesn't seem like a big difference but when I see them mounted they are remarkably different.

Well depends what your using the truck for.
245/65-17 is biggest size that doesn’t interfere with anything while turning full lock and going over bumps at the same time (suspension compression) without modification.

Not really true. I have 245/70’s that I had for about 500 miles on stock suspension and no rub.

245/65 17 Should be the tire size that comes on our trucks from the factory.

* Fit with no rubbing or clearance issues.
* One inch taller than a stock 225/65 17 so your gear ratio isn't crushed or speedo too far off.
* Lifts your truck 1/2 inch.
* Fits on the stock rim as your spare under the rear of the truck.
* Gives the truck a more solid feel and looks beefy
* Lots of makes and models to choose from in this size.

Looks AWESOME! Love the look, but for me, the look and feel must be practical. My truck is my daily driver. I head to work on the highway. I head to the shore on the weekends on the highway. For my sandy and surf passion, the 235/65 R17 works best for me. My XLT, 4K, Lux, FX4 with built in compressor makes my MAV the summer shore, surf fishing and NEPA winter truck. Let the air out..put the air back in:)

I was going to go with 235's. Tire retailer convinced me to go 245's. So glad I did!

How bad did your mpgs take a hit?
I'm about halfway through the tank. I can't say definitively but I am guessing negligible change in city driving, 1-2 MPG on the highway based on limited observation so far. I have been driving a little harder on them though.
