if you had another person to help could be re installed in under an hour, 2.5 hours for an old man by himself. it alters nothing permanently, use black rubber excersise to the back wall, sound insulated, then let it rip from there.

These look great for a single person who works with his or her hands. But, parents, be extremely careful if you have kids of any age sitting in the back seat with racks like these in front of them. I'm visualizing all the potential ER visits with broken and torn fingers from kids playing with the grates, putting their fingers through the holes just as Mom or Dad slams the brakes or turns hard to avoid a roadway hazard. SNAP! RIP! Time for stitches and splints :-(

thank you, all it cost was exactly half a sheet of plywood and some hinges. a little grunt work.

I use something similar and I highly recommend these steps if you're considering this option:

1. Manually bend/shape the panel to match the curvature of the seat to both maximize space and clearance for rear passengers
2. Store something soft (like extra towels) in the approximate location someone might hit their head or knees against the panel in a crash
   • Note: in some rear-end collisions, the seat may fail and unintentionally scoot backwards towards the rear passenger. So even if there is normally some clearance, assume worst case that the front seats shift all the way to the back.
3. If you don't have seat covers, add some towels or cushion on the back to prevent the panel from damaging the seat

I've had a generic aluminum version for the last couple of years and love it. I highly recommend it for everyone else.
