I've never heard of gluing on a rack. Doesn't seem too sturdy, especially with the suggested "silicon glue." But maybe some kind of heavy-duty epoxy, after sanding down to bare metal?

Bolts just seem far better and safer...

Edit: who the hell installs rack on for "styling," as the listing states?! Seems like a great way to add wind noise and lower gas mileage, with no benefits. But I guess the same can be said for many of the other non-functional "functional" trinkets that people add to their trucks. A fake rack just seems several degrees sillier.

I know that Spider Racks use an epoxy of some sort. They're very similar to Prinsu racks, which people love. They seem sturdy.

I don't think we're bolting, but using screws. What substructure do you screw into? I would not trust my kayak on this sight unseen and probably would not drill holes in the roof. Plan "A" for the kayak is a vertical bed extender and the rear roof rack by Yakima or Thule. Instead of a front tiedown I'll strap the the bed just back of the cab. Just saying!

I like the look, but my guess is that it is very thin and any glue or screw mounting would be insufficient. To do anything properly I think you must drop the ceiling panel down and look at whatever roof ribs and hoops there are in there to line up support on. One thing to never do is randomly place a load supporting structure on the sheetmetal of a economy designed vehicle.

If you do have a solid rack piece. Getting under the roof, lining it up with support structures and plating it from below and sealing the inside and out should make a reliable long term modification that wont ruin your roof.

Also thin metal steel baskets and racks always rust up after a couple years use if you are lucky. Aluminum or SS would be much better, or galvanized and the painted steel will last decently like OEM.
