If you already have a spray-in, would you add a drop-in on top?

Interesting.
I agree Line-X seems thicker.
What areas does the factory spray-in miss vs. Line-X ?
Its mainly the tailgate. On the factory liner it stops at the edge of the raised portion. Would be very easy to get something caught and start peeling. (this is the best pic I could find of the factory liner)

Vs the Line-X

Looks like the local Line-X went above and beyond with mine though. They covered every upward facing surface and ran down the sides to prevent catching anything on it.

Thank you for your reply and the pictures.
I like the line-X color coded spray in bed liner. It's pricey, but it looks nice.

You are most welcome. The factory SIBL came/comes with raised emblem on the bulkhead Somewhere on here (MTC) there is a pic of a factory SIBL that the guy accidently hit the emblem when loading stuff. It ripped the emblem off and some of the liner, the emblem was only held on by double-sided tape.

Spray-in already risks unseen growing rust damage underneath it if moistures gets through a scratch. Adding a drop-in just compounds the risk by reducing evaporation.

That said, I prefer a spray in over a drop-in.

I do not know about the quality of the factory spray in. I have a Rhino spray-in in my 2005
Ram, farm truck. Looks good and has held up well. OP states that drop-in has a
"better grip".... If so, they must have improved since the one and only drop-in I had. I pulled out of 84 Lumber with 12 2X10s and ten 80 lb. bags of Quik Crete onto Washington Rd. Augusta GA during a peak traffic period. I pulled out in 1st and barely popped the clutch going into second. I deposited the entire load in the right lane. It was not a pretty sight nor experience.
Have Patriot spray-in my 25. When I traded my 22, spray-in looked new. On the mavericks I had/have a tonneau cover which should reduce sun fading over time. My two cents!!

.
I put a DIBL over my SIBL, then sprayed the DIBL. It's the only way to be sure.

I had my dealer add a spray in bedliner. Not sure who did it. IT’s amazing. I’ve put an awful lot of stuff in the back of my truck and the bedliner has help up great.

Yeah, foam mat in my factory spray-in, made it less slidy, cushioned it, and being a grey de-blackholed it.

We’re seeing more builds running spray-in + drop-in together. And yeah, the first reaction is usually: “If I already paid for a spray-in, why add a drop-in—isn’t that wasting money?”

Short answer from a lot of real-world users: extra cushion, less rattle, better grip, and a sacrificial layer that keeps your spray-in from getting gouged when you chuck sharp or heavy stuff.

And we’ve been combing through pickup forums across models and the theme is consistent, check what they've said.

So here's the conclusion:
  1. Spray-ins are great and look clean, but they’re not perfect.
  2. Stacking a drop-in on top can solve specific pain points (noise, slide, impact).
Owners shared a ton of useful experiences—we figured it’s worth a proper poll here.
And...here comes our question:
If you already have a spray-in, would you add a drop-in on top?
• Yes — extra protection/grip is worth it
• Maybe — depends on price/fit/weight
• No — spray-in is enough
• Not sure — convince me in the comments

To make this useful and fun, we are hoping you can share your opinion down below this thread, and we are select one winner giving away 2 sets of bed mat to him/her or his/her friend from this forum

Here's the rule:
• Comment your take on spray-in + drop-in (real experience or what’s holding you back).
• @Tag one forum friend who’d have an opinion.
We’ll randomly pick one comment and send two bed mats — one to the commenter and one to the tagged friend.
• Multiple thoughtful comments = better odds, but one set max per person.

House rules

Keep it friendly, respect different setups, and skip the brand bashing. Real-world experience beats hot takes.

Dropping a few use-case screenshots below to spark ideas. Your pics welcome — especially that “one load that sold me” moment. Fire away 👇
