XLT side vent letter blackout question

I was wondering if anyone knew of any like pre made vinyl overlays or something to black out the XLT letters on the side vents or if anyone has other ways that look good. I'm debating on if I wanna pop them out and paint the letters myself.

I have been looking at that myself, you would probably have to sand off the chrome to get paint to stick, but since the letters are chromed on the sides it might not go well. I have been thinking of painting the horizontal lines above and below the letters either red or body color.

You could get the side vents for an XLT with the Black Appearance Package.

They pop off fairly easy. Just use a plastic pry tool to protect your paint. Or place a microfiber towel under the pry tool

There are 4 clips that are virtually unbreakable, but a bit hard to pry loose. Don’t be shy - you really can’t break anything!

They pop back in easy.

You could fill the area level with Bondo or similar and paint them.

I think the easiest way to go would be to get aftermarket replacements, like the ones with built in signal lights. There are several that are unadorned with factory or logos. I see there are some with desecrated flags if you want to show your desire for the country to burn, though. About $75 shipped on ebay and others.

I'll probably get these in my project to remove all factory logos.
