How so? I’ve tried all the way up. All the way down. In between. The bolsters are killing me. Why ford thought it was a good idea to make stiff bolsters I will never know. And the back pain from the really low lumbar (non existent)

I measured the Mav vs the Transit(not Connect).

The seats are the same width and back height (20", 24") to headrest.
Where they differ is the Mav floor to top front height is almost 14.5" (I have it moved as high as it will go), and the Transit(not Connect) is 17". Also, the seat depth of the Mav is 19, and the Transit(not Connect) is 17. The distance from the gas pedal to the top front edge of the seats where I have them set is 21.5 for the Mav, and 20" for the Transit(not Connect).

I did not check the seat and back angle relative to level.

I may experiment with a seat pad to try to raise the Mav seat height to near the Transit(not Connect) height and see if that helps my cramping hamstring and calf when I run. I'll still have a few inches headroom. I might investigate sticking a Transit(not Connect) seat in there to see what that would accomplish. Also, it might be easy to put in some 2" spacers to raise the Mav seat height.

So today I went to the dealership to check out the big Ben and the Outer Banks bronco sport seat seats. I must say they are really comfortable or at least more comfortable than the seats I have. They’re not near nearly as comfortable as the Nissan but they are not bad. I could live with them and be comfortable

They did not have a lariat there but they did have an XLT and they did have a Lobo for the Maverick. I sat in both of them and I can say after sitting in all those cars Mavericks just have terrible seats. Doesn’t matter the trim level the seat is awful. I had a parts guy come and see where I’m sitting in all of that and he told me I can definitely see why you’re in pain now because your sciatic part of your leg or at least on the outside of my leg is pressed firmly against the top of the seam on the bolsters which is sitting right over the top a metal bar underneath some thin foam which is covered by the topping. He said that my passenger seat seats were extremely firm and that the driver side even though it was slightly less because I was sitting on it for the last month and a half was still very firm and they could understand why it was painful. That’s when I asked to go see the other seats. The Lobo even though it has leather and has nice leather is awful. I got out of that car and I was screaming in pain. Not really screaming out loud but you know what I mean

I have made the decision that I’m either going to get the bronco sport seat and put it into my Maverick or just get the seat upholstered but I’m getting that seat out of there. The guy told me I do mean the parts guy told me that the Maverick does not come with great seats and he told me that a lot of people have made that comment that they are not comfortable with the seats. Not everyone has even thought about adding the bronco sport because some people have traded the car right back within a week or two. I like my 41 miles a gallon so that’s what we’re looking at

I’m just happy to say that after all of the research and everything I’ve done I have been confirmed that I was not going crazy. The parts guy told me that the seats on the Maverick are not good. The salesman told me that the seats on the Maverick weren’t good. The service guy told me that the seats on the Maverick weren’t good. Honestly at the end of the day I agree. The seats on the maverick are terrible

You definitely have made up your mind.
Every time I sit in my Mav, I just love the feel of the seats. They fit me perfect. Perfect support for me. I won’t try to change your mind, and don’t try to change my mind.
I hope you find a seat that serves you well.

My Macverick seat are the most comfortable I’ve had since my 2013 F-150 XL
Longest trip was four hours non stop. I was quite happy.
If it makes a difference I’m in great shape at 155 pounds, 5’11” with four pack abs, :XD
Nothing but slick powerful cycling hotness.
All the women folk say I got buns of steel.
Personally I think I got no ass.
:XD

But I could see where big dudes would want better seats. IMHO there is no way a body by Budweiser would be comfortable in the Maverick. Even with better seats.

It's too bad you can't sit in these to see how they feel before buying them:

Ford Maverick Uncomfortable Seats / Speakers awful (XL model) 1756235162094-m8

I think the best way to go is to get seats from a junkyard from a car that you KNOW is comfortable. Probably cheaper, too. You might have to drill a couple holes or get an adapter or something to attach them to the Mav seat base. I'm not sure if your insurance company would use the installation as an excuse to not cover your medical costs if you have an accident, even if the seat had zero to do with anything. I've heard of people having claims cancelled and having to pay out of pocket for accidents because they put on oversized tires.

However, despite the seat itself feeling good, it may be the position you're in that's the problem. Hence my comparing measurements from my van to the Mav. I loaned out my Rhode Island School Of Design furniture ergonomics textbook to someone years ago, and they didn't return it. BUT, there should be many websites that provide proper measurements and angles for optimum ergonomics of seating.

They are very painful to me. I’ve been in pain since. Hip pain, back pain, knee pain. I can’t do the Maverick seat. 💺 Honestly the worst I’ve ever had in any car ever, but others may like it. The bolsters are VERY STIFF

I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that one. The measurements of the seat are the exact same as my Nissan Murano seats were except for the fact that the Nissan had more padding. It also had a better lumbar support. And honestly I feel better fabric. But I would say the Murano gave me maybe two or 3 inches more of space upfront side to side but they are almost identical. For me what’s killing me isn’t the space in the car I’ve got space I can sit in this car. Then again I am a bigger guy but not a big big guy if you know what I mean. So I would not be quick to make the assumption that bigger guys can’t drive this car. Shit I saw somebody on a Facebook group who said he was a really big guy and he was a bigger guy and he said the seats were comfortable

For me what kills me is the bolsters. And the lack of a lumbar support on the base model. I’m talking about the wings of the seat I’m not talking about the middle of the seat I’m talking about the wings. They kill me cause they’re very stiff

I mean if I had my way I would put the Nissan Murano seats in here. Everything seems to line lineup it’s just the metal bars they say don’t which I don’t know if that’s true.

But I like the Broncos sports seats. I don’t know if I would say they’re the same as the Murano but you know what I mean.

Also when you had mentioned it might be the seat angle. Believe me I’ve tried every angle. I’ve tried sitting upright I’ve tried sitting back I’ve tried moving my car seat closer I’ve tried moving it back I’ve tried bringing it all the way up to the top of the ceiling. I’ve tried bringing it all the way down. I’ve tried everything in fact I used an ergonomics website to use that decision. What hurts me is the holsters also known as the wings

I have a HS friend who is now in his 60's, he's what I guess you'd call a "big guy". He has had to disconnect the horn on his last few cars because his belly would be setting it off a lot. Even with the seat moved back as far as it could and him still able to reach the pedals and steering wheel. He breaks chairs if they aren't sturdy. Being 5'6" and over 500lbs isn't as fun as it seems, I guess. Here's the interesting part; he is a twin, and his brother is 6'2" 200lbs and looks like a Roman statue. Both are great guys, I'm not making fun of him for his condition, just pointing out a real-world anomaly. He's tried repeatedly to lose weight, but once you get that big it's really hard, and his insurance co won't pay for what they call "cosmetic" surgery to have his stomach stapled or a lap band or other work that would cause weight reduction.

I guess I misunderstood. I’ve never in my life ever hit the horn with my gut. Yikes. Like I said I’m bigger but not like Gabriel Iglesias says, “fluffy”

I fit in the car no issues. It’s just the seat

Do people mention the movie "Twins" a lot around them?

No lie I got back pain, and sciatica from the angle of a 2005 Subaru seat. Lasted months and months even after I stopped getting into that car.

Try seat cushion!

So I think I’ve mentioned it in the beginning of the post. I currently sit on a cushion made by purple and I use a lumbar support made by purple. Purple is the brand that used to make beds for handicap individuals and then they branched out and became more of a for everybody type brand back in like 2020 or something. At first it was fine but now it’s become a problem because it’s very firm it’s soft but like it pushes back on me and it takes up the middle and I’m still getting drilled on the side of my leg by the bolster. So it’s not fun. I’ve tried seat angles I’ve tried raising I’ve tried lowering I’ve tried cushions I’ve tried everything believe me. I was looking at replacing it with a Nissan seat but apparently there’s a couple things that just won’t make it fit especially with the fact that it has sensors or something so the Bronco sports seat which fits is something that I’m looking at doing. It’s much more comfortable because with the Maverick seat the bolster does not fold over the side of the support. I tried it again on the Lobo when I went to the dealership and I tried the XLT. Both of them put me in pain again. When I sat with the bronco sport it was amazing. So I’m gonna take that seat and stick it in my maverick. And then I’m gonna upgrade my stereo system I already have the speakers and amplifier and picked out and then I’ll be great. I’ll have a better stereo. I’ll have a better driver seat. I’ll be sitting pretty

You would have liked the seats in a 1970 Challenger flat as a pancake no bolsters anywhere on the seat bottom.
