Here is a few photos and an overnight timelapse I took while dispersed camping somewhere on a ridge on Bailey Canyon Road between San Bernardino and Silverwood Lake. It was a 4/10 on OnX Offroad. I slipped down into a SXS rut and bottomed out a little, one time. I surely picked up a few new light pin stripes a well, trying avoid more said ruts :)

The time lapse was done on my Samsung S22 on a tripod with my little Anker power station weighing down the tripod and keeping the cell phone battery going all night. This was a sunset to sunrise time lapse. It is too big of a file for the forum so here's a link

Awesome work. Fascinated with the short trails near the horizon that start on the left and slowly move to the right. Guessing they have to be satellite glints, likely Starlink, with an occasional one that moves toward the north star which means it's in a polar orbit. I used to have a iridium flare app on my phone that would find these for any location. I still use another that gives me ISS sightings.

Wanting to buy a Seestar soon.

Thank you :) That is the origin point of the Persied meteor shower as it went across the sky. The ones in that grouping are usually dim and hard to see with the naked eye but they come up really well when I have the star streaks turned on. All the blinking/dotted ones are all aircraft

I also had a T/L camera out for the last couple nights, but your pics are awesome!

Thanks for the heads up on this trail. I will have to mountain bike bailey canyon when the temps cool down a little.

Now to pay it forward, you should check out the Hanna Flats lookout and do a time lapse from the top of one of the granite plutons there.

From these plutons, you can see San Gorgonio and Bear Lake

Neaby Hanna Flats campground is beautiful and shaded with lots of big pines, has potable water, bathrooms and can be booked in advanced or show up and take what’s available on that day.

if you want dispersed camping, there are yellow posts sites #1-3 nearby, but those are in a high traffic area with lots of passing OHV’s and dust.

For more seclusion, go to yellow post #31 on 3N12C/2N09F. It is not listed on On-X, but would be a 6/10. It is easily doable in an awd Maverick going the CCW direction, downhill. Going clockwise, uphill, you’d probably need lockers.

There’s also lots of trails for 4x4’s and OHV’s with trails up to 7/10, such as 3N17, White Mountain. Or 3N93, Holcomb creek 4x4 trail.

There’s also 4-5/10 trails for the Maverick, such as the 3N16 and 3N07A.

Enter the area from the south through Van Dusen Canyon, Polique canyon or Rim of the World Dr. To enter from the north, use Bowen Ranch Rd in Apple Valley, to Coxey Rd to Big Pine Flat campground. That campground is nice too, but not as much shade.
