I ordered a Mangoal dash cam based on the YouTube video from Fred's Garage. I even followed the link provided from YouTube. What I was received was different. Fred's showed a hookup into the OBDII port. Regardless of what you think about it, it did look easy. What I received only included a harness to tap into the Lane Assist port with pass-thru. I only have an XLT hybrid. Maybe I will get luck and the port is there but maybe not. Also what I received has the built-in port to add a GPS receiver. I don't need that but it's there and was not shown on Fred's video.
It is a bit odd in that the power port to the camera shows Red/Yellow/Black but the tap to the Lane Assist only shows red. The instructions assume plug and play so don't really spell out if Red is Acc or Yellow is ACC.
Since I am in a bitchy mood, I am also annoyed that you have to download two different apps from the play store. I haven't done enough to figure out why you need two and the directions are a bit vague at points about which app they are referring to. Amazon product support was not any help, just offering a return or trying to find a three wire cord. They could not find one, but I later checked and found something promissing but it was $40 for a 4 pack.
I am reasonably handy to just run why own three wires so I can fall back to that.
On the plus side, the vendor was prompt in response. Not particularly helpful but prompt. I had other priorities at the time so I have not followed up with them.
