I did a Google search of the site and think I found the several threads about it that were likely effecting my memory.
Incorrectly it appears.

They were not claimed examples of working, but the same "I heard on another site".
One was reference to older version instructions that no one reported back worked or that they would attempt. I've attached if someone wants to try. Key in ignition usage must be translated to push-button usage for those trims. Gotta have codes for the keypad. (this is the one where I sure thought I read someone placing it in the keyless-entry fob reading location so the keypad code could be read off it - but couldn't find that)
Couple were the reprogramming instructions where you just need original paperwork to enter new code.
A couple of the discussions were using the Ford Accessories site to order it with option to Install, and then looking up where the dealer was thru the order that would do it for $24 add-on, several of those supporting dealers had mobile units.

So I can't verify what I thought I was remembering to have read.
Sorry.
I remember seeing someone claiming to reprogram like it was a fob. I also searched and could not find it. Maybe he woke up and deleted that post? I'll search more but not right now.

Sorry.
No problem. No harm, no foul. I found a YouTube video of a guy doing it himself, after spending $2K+ on the FRDS software and such. Boy, did he get flamed for that!

At this point, I just wish the MY25 version would work on the '24, it's sooo much better looking.

This gets the door code for your truck. Then I think you can insert the code into the key pad? Have not verified that yet.
Edit to add: the door code is printed on the label on the BCM in the passenger fuse box under the glove box!
Edit to include link🤗

I can’t answer for him. But have a Samsung galaxy watch. If I don’t have a cell signal on my watch, usually I don’t have one on my phone either. That’s where the keypad comes in handy. Besides, if I’m doing my exercise walk in the park, my phone is often locked inside my truck along with my keys .
I do the same when walking, I leave the key inside. For backup I have my phone app and keypad on the door. I also have Samsung watch, you able to open with it?

Yes I can open the truck and start it. I think it automatically allowed me to install it on my watch when I installed it on my Samsung tablet

This seems like a good spot. Out of the way and not easily seen.
Two observations.: 1- Will it trap moisture from rain or when washing the truck? 2- Will it affect the addition of a bed tonneau if you decide to add one later?

I did not end up putting it there, there was quite a hump and there wasnt a spot flat enough for it to stick properly.. It ended up on the upright behind the back door. Haven't used it yet!

I wanted one, like I have on my Transit (not Connect).
However, the wireless keypads now require "dealership installation" (programming). I sighed heavily and committed, bought the pad online and chose one of the $56 installation disservice centers, about 50 miles away. They let me know when it was in stock, and I set up an appointment for when they first opened up, 7:30am. At about 2-3pm, after sitting there the whole day, they let me know that they didn't have the right keypad (there are two, one for vehicles with remote start, and the one that works with mine). This is typical disservice center "service" in my near 50 years of vehicle ownership experience.

I'm not going through that again a few times until they get it right, so I'm not going to have a keypad. I really like having one, because I don't like to carry a key (or phone, or crowbar, or 10# dumbell) with me when I go running or cycling. I wish Ford didn't switch to this technology; it was really easy to program the mail-order keypad to my Transit (not Connect) and pair with the keys myself in about 10 minutes.

I use one of those trailerhitch combo cases to keep a key while I go running, but I'm thinking about installing a hidden remote button for the door locks, or maybe to roll down a window, whatever isn't going to mess with the electronics. It's always a good idea to have a Dumb Key hidden underneath in case you lose ("loose", for the undereducated) your key or lock it inside.
