I've always used 91 octane ethanol free. I usually get around 30 +- when I fill up as the 28.6 includes everything since day one. It does a little worse in cold weather but the worst fill up was around 25 when I had sat at idle for about an hour waiting for the cops to show up at an accident. There are no mods-totally stock. As long as I keep it below 75 speed doesn't seem to have much of an effect on the milage. I can't imagine mine ever getting only 20 MPG, My Grandson has an FX4 and he gets a couple miles better than I do but almost of his miles are interstate.

That's quite impressive, I have been searching for Lariets in my area to check out too, real shame they're not many with the FX4 package and they're not really much cheaper than the Tremor.

I wasn’t aware of that, I figured a smaller generator would actually provide better fuel economy as the engine could run at a more constant speed but I guess that answers my question why we never really saw such a setup in cars.
Ford Maverick Is the Tremor right for me. IMG_2659

When you use an ice engine in a parallel hybrid (eg prius or Maverick) to power the transmission and tires, you lose about 10% of the energy due to parasitic losses, like tire rolling resistance, friction in wheel bearings and transmission, etc.

When you have a series hybrid (eg chevy volt or RAM 1500 ramcharger) you have those same 10% frictional losses + an additional 5% loss when you use the ice engine to convert the power to electricity to send to the battery, and then an additional 5% lost as heat while charging the battery, then an additional 5% lost as heat while discharging the battery, then an additional 5% lost as heat when the electric motors convert the electricity back to kinetic motion.

Pure EV’s can eat this 20% round trip loss from charging/discharging and still make economical sense due to electricity being so much cheaper than gasoline

Thanks for breaking it down dude, when you break it down like that, I can see why automakers stick with parallel hybrids.

20k miles on my 23 tremor. I tow a small camper, a small boat, been on long road trips, went off roading, rough roading, drove in winter storms with 10 inches of snow on the road. It's an all around adventure truck....if that's what your looking for

Sounds right up my alley, I am supposed to be visiting a Ford dealer on Monday to look at the Maverick and see what deal they can give me.

Well, did you buy one?

HRG
I test drove the hybrid XLT with the 4K/FX4 package and a XLT AWD with the 2.0, they didn't have a Tremor. The hybrid had more pick and go than I expected but the 2.0L was a lot of fun in sports mode. Sadly, I didn't go ahead with ordering one as the dealer was putting a lot of pressure on me.

The Ford Employee Pricing is only taking $2000 off of MSRP, so with tax/fees I am paying over $40,000, almost $43,000. Second, even with $12,000 cash the price to me was $31,900 and they were telling me for a 48/month loan the monthly payment was $832/month, I know math isn't my strong suit but either their figures are wrong or they're trying to charge me something like 25% interest rate. They told me the figures are based on a 13% interest rate (Which is obscene in itself) but wouldn't tell me what interest rate they would give me until I signed the contract.

Lastly, they were not happy I didn't bring my trade in because I couldn't get in touch with my insurance person to reactivate my insurance. The guy said based on the info I gave about it, you might only get $1500, $1000 or maybe just $500. Based on the out the door pricing, the pressure put on me and how the salesperson seems like he was on the verge of losing his temper at the end, I thanked him for his time and walked out.

I am considering a few options now, I may try a couple other dealers that have 25 Tremors on the lot and see what figures they have. I may decide the price is too high, get a 25 XLT with the FX4/4K/Luxury Package, some dealers around me have them for closer to $33,000 which is a more reasonable price. Lastly, a place out of state has a 24 Tremor Lariat that has been sitting for awhile for $36,000, I may just give up getting the bigger screen in the 25 for a better equipped Maverick at a good price.

Regardless, I have 2 cars, if I got to wait another year and save more money so the loan payments are less I may do that too. I realize my expectations on the pricing/interest rate might be too unreasonable with the way things are now.

Go to your bank or credit union and arrange financing ahead of time. I got 4.8% so instead of pulling money out that was earning more I went with the loan.
I might check with the people investing my Roth IRA, I heard they'll give me a loan on my money being invested. I won't be doing business with a Ford dealership that tried so hard to stick me with a loan pushing a 30% interest rate...

My bank only does personal loans and they want 18% and the credit unions are asking around 6%-7% here so if another Ford dealership can't equal that, I will consider other options.

I thought your internal debate was to buy a temor with 2k towing VS the FX4 with 4k towing?

The FX4 only comes in the ecoboost flavor. So if you drove a hybrid, it was not an FX4.

And if you drove an ecoboost in sport mode, that was not an FX4 either. The FX4 has normal, tow/haul, slippery, mud and sand modes, but no eco mode and no sport mode.

So you have not yet test drove the models that you are most interested in.

You’re right, however, this is what the sales person told me. I only really built and deeply examined the options of the Tremor so until you told me this, I wasn’t aware those options were not available on those trims.

The main point of test driving those two Mavericks was to see if I wanted to go to the hybrid over the Ecoboost and if I would be happy with the XLT trim if I decided to settle on that. That day answered some important questions for me.

Also to note, I did drive a 2025 Tremor today….

So long story short, I had a very good experience at another Ford dealership and got to drive a 2025 Tremor. The dealership without seeing my trade got me within $2000 for what I was willing to spend and they’re offering me a 5.99%-6.74% interest rate loan for whatever remains after rebates, my trade and whatever cash I give them which I am happy with.

I got to drive and examine the 2025 Tremor closely, I really like it, it was peppy, fun to drive and equipped nicely. I tried out the B&O sound system and it’s as good as the 12 Speaker Sony System in my Fusion. I will be going back at the end of the week and letting them look at my trade, they promised me at least $1500 but I am going to see if I can get a bit more on it.

They had a couple of Tremors, I can live with either but the one in black with the orange stripes looks best. Only problem is they did a spray in bed liner delete on it and that’s a feature I wanted, the dealership said they can Rhino Line it for me while I wait and throw it in free of charge. It has the sunroof, which is a feature I don’t use but they would sell it to me at the same price as the other Tremor without the feature.

I can’t say enough at how well treated I was by this dealership, I dread dealing with car salesmen as much as I dread having my teeth drilled and after my experience at the other Ford dealership I was ready to throw in the towel but these guys made the experience pleasant.

If all goes well I will give them a shot out, more to come…

I got the Tremor as that is what I wanted. I have had is since March and I love it. For the the extra inch and off road capabilities are what I was after. I live in North Dakota and that extra inch can be the difference between stuck or not in deep snow. It is the first new vehicle I have ever bought that I did not plan on making lots of changes to.

It is a dirt road eating machine it is great on snow and ice. Previously I drove a Dodge W200, Ford F150 and a Jeep Rubicon. It tows and hauls what I need and gets better mileage than any of my previous rides. My little fishing boat/ trailer weigh less than 1000 pounds.

We moved from the country after our horses died so we have no use for heavy hauling anymore. Mt wife sold here Chevy 2500 4X4 and bought a Bronco sport and could not be happier.

That being said, if i was going to tow/ haul on a regular basis I would buy a truck made for it and not force a Maverick to do a trucks work. 30 years ago I wore out a 1/2 ton pickup towing a horse trailer all around. The best thing I ever did was get 3/4 ton 4X4's for towing.

My 2024 Temor is black with the sunroof. I had the same thoughts but actually use the sunroof alot more than I thought I would.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, if it can handle the dirt/snow in North Dakota than it means it should be able to handle the dirt/snow in Pennsylvania. I also agree with using the proper tool for the job, I towed once in the last 15 years and it was the smallest U-Haul trailer they make to bring home my gun safe and that's well within the 2000 pound limit of the Tremor but for people that tow more often, I can understand their desire for the 4K Package.
