I just replaced the original 225/60/18 Michelins with 235/65/18 Michelin Defender 2 tires because I wanted a bit more sidewall with very little added width. I thought I noticed a bit of bumping and it seems the right side outer tie rod end is bad. I'm going to replace both sides and would like to know if anyone recommends factory Ford or aftermarket. I'd prefer a part that has a lube fitting and a long warranty. None of that silly off-road, mud or sand driving, just rather slow, old man driving.

Rockauto has a Motorcraft part number in stock, and a mid level Mevotech. I would probably say either is going to be about the same quality. Moog quality really went to crap, and putting anything cheaper on the vehicle is a total waste of money since replacing them requires an alignment, and it's kinda important to be able to steer.

What makes you think the tie rod is bad?

50 Years in the car business as a PA state inspection mechanic, body shop manager, service manager, car lot owner and seeing movement in the outer tie rod end when the wheel is pulled in and out. In other words, it has play when it shouldn't.

How many miles on your truck? Even tho it's considered a wear part, if you don't have a ton of miles, one could easily claim it was defective. I would see if your dealer is willing to work with you. Good luck.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. When I was looking for a Maverick in late 2022, I couldn't find a Lariat, hybrid with the luxury package anywhere, even the auctions, so I bought one with front end sheet metal damage and rebuilt it. Since I had done hundreds of rebuilds on Ford vehicles over the years it was no big deal. The bad news is, no mechanical warranty on R-title vehicles. However, mine was a 4,450 mile Florida truck that was never in the rain, so after I replaced the front sheet metal it was like a new truck and the front inner structure was not touched and I had a loaded Maverick for about $18,000. In 2-1//2 years this tie rod end was the first issue so I'm not complaining. When a new vehicle is introduced it always amazed me how quick they are to total perfectly good vehicles because they know nothing about repairing them or so called "parts shortages".
