I've seen all the threads about regretting buying an XL or an XLT or a Lariat. I've seen the threads about problems with ordering (delays, bait & switch, etc.) But what I couldn't find was any posts about ordering your Maverick or just buying one off the lot. I can't get a sense of how many members special ordered their trucks vs. those that just went and picked one out. It seems a lot of people had to compromise on their orders to avoid delays. I just found the one I wanted with the options that I wanted and bought it straight out - no waiting, no dealers adding on stuff before I could bring it home. I'm very satisfied with how it worked out for me, but I would have probably ordered one if I was buying new ('25). I just got lucky that I found one exactly how I would have ordered it and managed to get a '24 right after the camera recall was settled. So if you bought one off the lot, do you wish you would have ordered one instead? Or if you ordered one, was it a good experience compared to the old "drive to the local dealer and buy one today"? I just wondered if it was about 50-50 ordering vs. buying off the lot, or if it was higher or lower in either direction?

Congrats on your ride.
I initially ordered a XLT in 2022 with the power seats and 360 package. I had to cancelled the order because it was an over a year delay.
At the time it was gonna be my first Ford in over 23 years. I didn't feel like waiting that long for a Ford.
Forward three years, well I just got a 2024 Lariat, loaded and even got a sunroof. I really love it.
I feel that if I had ordered one I wouldn't have gotten any discounts and I would have been at the stealership's mercy on my trade.
Carvana offered me $28K for my trade but I traveled over 4 hours to get the 2024 Lariat. They gave me over $29K for my trade and took off over $6K for theirs. A killing deal.
I would never order a Maverick specially knowing what I know now. I would have never have gotten the discount I got, in a 2025 either, specially with all the added packages, almost $45K, insane price for a Maverick. Happy I got mine the way I did for the price.

I live in Wisconsin and I just searched the Ford website every night for a few weeks. A truck came in one day 100 miles from where I live. I called the dealer the next morning and said I would like to look at it that afternoon. They held it for me and then delivered it the next day. I never expected a 100 mile delivery. All I needed was 4K towing, and I ended up with an FX4 that fit the bill. The FX4 package is an extra $800 and I got it free. Cannot argue with that.

I work at a ford dealership. I wanted a hybrid. And I needed something right away. (As soon as i got some things lined up.). The only hybrid they had on the lot was a 2025 AWD XLT with the 4k towing package , the blackout trim package, and a sunroof. I didn’t need an of those options. In fact, I wo have been satisfied with a 2024. But I’m GLAD I got the 2025 with thone features. It cost more than I wanted to spend. But with the employee discount, that lowered the price a bit . At the time, ANYONE could get the employee discount. Oh they held it three weeks because I’m a good employee. There was a guy that was willing to give me 500.00 if I would allow them to sell it to him. I said no because Id fallen for that truck.

I bought right off the Showroom floor.
Got what I wanted.
From when I first laid eyes on my Truck to when I drove it off the lot was a bit over two hours.
No way I was gonna go months waiting.

I've ordered four of the five vehicles I've owned, the Maverick included. The only one I didn't order was my first car, which I bought used.

I couldn't find any in dealer stock optioned the way I wanted (the key thing was the 4K tow package, but I didn't want lots of options beyond that). I do regret that it took 8 months to show up (and this was just last year), but I got exactly what I wanted.

I started buying Mavericks in late 21 so there were none on the lots to buy. As time progressed more Mavericks were at dealers ADM's dropped and now if you order its not a long wait time.
It really depends on the deal if you buy or order. Looking back I I ordered 7 and took delivery of 4 and sold 3. Of those 7 orders no local dealer could or would match the ordered price.

Having said that it's different now and buying from a dealer might be what works best. I think buying a 24 after the camera recall fiasco was probably a good buy. Congrats on your new Maverick.

One year ago I saw an Atlas Blue, ‘24 Lariat hybrid online at a local Ford dealership on a Sunday. I filled out all the information and submitted it and supposedly I was all set to walk in and wrap up the deal the next day. When I showed the salesman a photo copy of the truck and the deal, he looked on his computer and said “hmm…we don’t have that vehicle.” So I thought okay, here we go! He said they had a similar vehicle that was white. I took it out for a test drive. It was very nice, so I was considering doing a deal when I got back. When we sat down to talk I discovered it wasn’t a hybrid! Eventually we hammered out a deal for a black XLT hybrid with all the options I wanted, heated seats, steering wheel and leather seats. I actually like my black Maverick better than the original blue one I was interested in but I’m still a bit miffed that it seemed like the dealership used a bait-and-switch tactic to get me in the door!

When I decided to get a Maverick in the spring of 24 I looked around and found the truck I wanted two separate times. But both were bad experiences with the dealers.

First truck was 100 miles away and when I called about it they were giving me the run around and finally told me it was a lariat not the XL I was looking for and tried to up sell me .

Second truck was 250 miles away and we made a deal on price and everything but at the end they said the truck has 4,000 miles on it we have been driving it as a demo. But they were selling it as a new truck. Needless to say I passed

So finally I ordered what I wanted. A dealer near me has a phenomenal reputation and I found for good reason. I ordered the last week order banks were open for the 24s and they straight up told me I had a 50/50 shot of it getting made. Well it did and I love the truck. Honestly ordering, waiting, getting updates was an absolute blast and I love that the truck was built for me, no one has ever touched it but me, and it only had 7 miles on it. I will definitely order a vehicle again.

The 2023 order book was open for five days. I ordered mine; first time in 40+ years I ordered a vehicle. The dealer experience was great. It took a while for it to be built and delivered but that was to be expected with the 23s as Ford sorted out all the supply issues. I've become more patient as I've aged so I'll likely do it again. Now if they'd just bring "cyber orange" back...

I located my truck, it was a dealer order that was a month out of getting there. It was perfect and couldn't want more or less

I bought mine off the lot. Knew exactly what I wanted and went on-line to shop around for the best price. Was flexible with the color. Got about 18-20 quotes from all over the country and ended up buying one in Kentucky. Flew up there and drove back to Oklahoma for some business and then back home to South Texas. Would have liked to support my local dealers but most of them are your typical ones I don't want to deal with. So easy nowadays with the internet. No need to set a foot into the door of a dealership for any "negotiations" anymore. So very happy with the outcome.

When the Ranger's return was announced, I ordered one spec'd out just the way I wanted it.
Same with the Bronco. (Also ordered a 22 Maverick for my Mom right about the time I ordered my Bronco).
Three weeks ago, I saw an online ad for a 25 Mini Cooper Countryman that was at a nearby Ford dealer, being sold with a huge discount (selling as used, but with only 1800 miles on it).
So I went over on a Friday evening to take a look at it.
On the showroom floor was a 2025 Carbonized Grey Tremor.
Ended up taking it home instead of the Mini
