camera looks cool, but WTF is up with the chipmunk voice and way-too-loud music?

Not having the bird's eye 360 pilot as offered on the 2025 Mavericks, I like the idea of having a front view cam. Does this operate as normal rear view mirror or are all views camera generated?

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
yeah. i agree. the fact that you can't use it as a mirror with the camera off pretty much kills it for me. that, and as the reviewer pointed out, with a mirror you can shift your head and alter your view, with the camera, you're limited to where the camera is pointed and what is in its view.

but i'd much prefer a real-world honest review than some 'influencer' on youtube. for some people the camera will work for them just fine, for me, it's a no-go.

seems like they are all generated. i found this review pretty useful:

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Dad has a 2024 Tahoe with a rear view screen with the mirror but you have the option to view it only as a mirror or with the camera. I probably wouldn’t want a rear view camera without the option of being a traditional mirror.
When you turn off the screen, it functions like a normal rear view mirror while the cams are still recording.

good to hear. would be *really* nice to see some video, or at least photos, of it acting as just a mirror. is there glare? are there double reflections? i'm very interested in the quality of the mirror vs. a standard rear view mirror.

Sorry we don't have pics/vids right now. It reflects like a phone screen when turned off.

There are hundreds of reviews of the g900 pro and other similar mirrors on YouTube but maybe not this specific model yet. They are all more or less the same with varying levels of software features.

The wolfbox mirrors are reflective and not as much as some of their competition but function as a mirror when the screen is off - there is a power button on the bottom. Problem is that there is enormous amounts of glare during daylight hours and the screens aren't very bright. You usually have to tilt the screen down to hide the reflections of the interior to be able to see the screen. They sell matte screens protectors that help a little but make the screen dimmer.

My phone screen reflects poorly when turned off, not something I'd want to use as a mirror. Maybe get one of your folk to get their phone, take some pics, and share them with the group. Only take you a few minutes.
