When I finally took delivery of my truck (late Feb), the dealer service technician informed me that the issue preventing delivery for a month was not with the truck. Instead, it was a software issue with the diagnostic hardware used to take readings on truck components - apparently out of date for the current model year.

Dealer technicians determined, through their own testing and communication with other local Ford dealers and Ford Corp engineers, that the diagnostic hardware was reporting erroneous output - like the pre-collision error. So, the software update needed was with Ford providing an update for the diagnostic hardware, not a software update on the truck.

I think using the Ford Advocacy program also helped get this issue resolved by bringing in Ford engineers working directly with dealer technicians. I highly recommend using this free service from Ford to help resolve problems.

I've never heard of the "Ford Advocacy program" and can't find anything online about it. Do you have to reach out somewhere specific or just talk to your dealer?

I started getting this error today. Did anyone else get the update installed yet?
I also received the same error this morning... WEIRD.

It went away after a mile or two. Inspected the front camera and any visible sensors... Couldn't see anything that could cause issues...

While logged into your Ford.com owner support account, open a chat session. In the chat, you will explain your situation/issue. If a solution cannot be determined and/or applied, they will initiate a next level step, bringing in an advocate to help resolve the problem.

For me, I completed a full purchase of a special order 2025 XLT which was not delivered to me after it arrived at the dealer. And, there was no timeline on when I would expect delivery - a rather odd situation in my opinion. As the weeks passed the situation became rather untenable for me - I've paid in full for a product but it's being held from my possession.

So, the result of the online chat was a Ford advocate assignment. Initially, I was somewhat suspicious of the advocacy process. But, it actually was the best outcome for my situation. My assigned advocate kept me fully informed and followed through on all commitments.

Yeah I'm going to see if it happens again and maybe call my dealer if it does. Definitely bizarre we both had this error for the first time today.

2025 FORD MAVERICK XLT 2.5L HYBRID (one week old, Manufacture date April 15th 2025) FORD CO-PILOT3601.0 Pre collision assist with automatic emergency braking.
Only had possession of the (NEW) vehicle for about two weeks as of 7-17-25.

Does not seem to be working properly, I’ve had several vehicles abruptly stop in front of me and did lane changes in front of me and the wife.
The system did nothing, no warnings, no breaks, nothing (SET TO HIGH RANGE.)
I was able to get the warning to come on one time.
Approximately 30 miles an hour and approximately 30 feet away the vehicle in front of me, approaching railroad tracks.
Once the vehicle in front of me got on top of the tracks they hit the brakes. I was anticipating this and found it a good opportunity to test the system, the Pre collision assist warning did come on, the vehicle in front of was approximately two to three feet higher in elevation than my vehicle.
Made a service appointment with the dealer, ↓below are the results.↓
All “” from Dealers invoice. ↓
“CUSTOMER STATES PRE COLLISION ASSIST SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING AT ALL VEHICLE PULLED UP IN FRONT OF THEM AND IT DID NOT GO OFF THINKS IT MIGHT NEED TO BE CALIBRATED PLEASE CHECK AND ADVISE”
_________________________________________________________________
From dealers technician, who could not tell me if the vehicles Pre collision assist operates off of radar or off of a camera system.↓

“333 Diagnose the customers concern of pre collision assist not working due to car pulled out in front of the customer and no pre collision assist message popped up. Checked codes. No codes present. Checked TSB/SSM. None found. Test drove vehicle in a controlled and safe manner to trigger the pre collision assist in order to verify the correct operation. Verified the correct operation of the vehicle safety systems. 00289650”

Traded in 2024 MAVERICK XLT with the collision assist going off almost too much,

(SET TO MID RAGE), sorry for the long-winded post tried to keep it short ¯\_(ツ)_/¯….
