The lack of security of that compartment is one of the reasons I am looking at a hard tonneau cover.

That said, for way less than the $800-$1K ill end up spending on that one could take the door off, take it to a local shop, and have one made of something more secure.

Either powder coated steel or aluminum for rust resistance. Toss a cam lock on and it will keep out all but the most determined crack head.

In my case I'll probably just leave it as is, because I have already talked myself into a hard tonneau.

Another thought. The blank covers that come on XL would come in handy as a starting point for some things, depending on what one wanted to set their bed up like.

Not everyone is going to find the cubby useful.

I will, but if this forum has taught me anything its that every one of us looks at our trucks differently. Especially on something like Maverick where it really is kind of a "Swiss army knife" of possibilities, all depending on how its set up.

Same cubby for either side. Cover door- there is a left and a right.
I'll have to consider this, then. I've ordered a non-lux XLT. I thought about adding a 12v plug and switches for lights to drivers side, but maybe I'll add a cubby and install the switches inside.

Thanks for the post!

Hmmm. Since it’s the same cubby both sides I wonder what the difference is in the doors. When mine comes in I’ll try to install it on the other side and see if it works.

I wish instead of tailgate lock on my Lariat without a tonneau cover they had put a lock on the rh cubby.

I've been following the threads about the bed cubby, but I haven't had any luck finding the actual parts using the numbers that people have provided. But I did dig this up: Loading Compartment Partition | FordUS

Seems like I'd need to order several parts (Stowage Box Assembly, Cover, Molding/s?), to assemble a complete cubby to add to my XL. Anyone done this yet who can confirm which parts they ordered, hopefully with part numbers from the Ford parts site?

Edit: I wish that the @Administrator had left this as new thread, rather than merge it with one of the existing threads, because it's getting really difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff. I was hoping that someone who had done the upgrade could just verify which parts were actually necessary from the Ford parts site, rather than the part numbers that some dealers can't even seem to locate.

You only need the p/n circled in red in the picture at the top of the post and 2 extra bolts. The cubby comes complete including the door and divider. The block off plate has 4 bolts but the cubby uses 6 (you’ll see).

Alas, that part number (NZ6Z-760286A72-A) doesn't seem to come up on the Ford parts site--and other people have reported that their dealers also can't pull it up. Got a link for ordering it?

Hmmm. Unfortunately I don’t have a link. I ordered mine through the parts counter. Maybe with supply chain issues it’s not currently available?
