Hi all,

Just wanted to let other 2022 Maverick Hybrid owners know that earlier this week County Ford in Graham, NC replaced both my front CV Axle assemblies on my truck at just 54K miles. I had noticed an increasing amount of shuddering while accelerating, over the past few thousand miles. The repair was well done by County Ford, covered under Ford's powertrain warranty and now the truck drives smoothly again; however, I'm not looking forward to when I have to do this repair out of pocket. I can't explain why both axles failed so soon, as I've never driven the truck aggressively and rarely get the EV power gauge above 60%.

54k is actually pretty high compared to many owners who've had theirs replaced between 17-22k. Or the owners who've had their CV axles replaced twice already.
Check the similar threads below this post or search "CV axle" or "shuddering" to see how prolific an issue this is.

Use the Search function on MTC and search thread titles with CV axle or shudder in the title.

Shittons of people with this problem. They often fail somewhere after 20k+ miles.

The parts have been redesigned to be stronger, and should last a lot longer than the originals.

Would you know if there's a way to determine if the parts used in my repair were "original" or "redesigned, stronger" ones? For example, did the part numbers get updated after redesign?

54k is really sad. Heck, my expedition has 200k still on the original bearings and axles. Granted it's built beefier but still ..
