New maverick owner 2025 XL hybrid

Hey everyone. I'm going to be picking up a 2025 maverick XL hybrid in the desert tan color this Thursday. I purchased the Maverick to be my commuter vehicle for when I start my full time job, as I am going into my last semester of college. Based on reading through this forum, it seems the XL owners are my type of people. I have a 2005 F150 that I've done a lot of cool projects on. I'm already excited for the possibilities with the Maverick.

Things I've already ordered:
Lomax bed cover
Tailgate assist
Stubby antenna

Things I'm planning on:
Use Ford points for bed mat
Spray in my own bed liner
LED lights all the way around
Stitch on leather steering wheel cover
Bed lights
Wheels eventually

I also am eager to upgrade the audio, nothing too crazy tho. I understand all mavericks come with 2 way door speakers and tweeters? I also plan to put in a little sub. I have experience with amp and sub installation. However, I've never done it with an OEM stereo, so I'm not quite sure how to do it. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!

I just drove my 2025 XL off the lot last weekend. I'm eager to hear what you find for a steering wheel cover. The stock finish is way too slick for me.

I actually ordered a leather steering wheel off a Ford fiesta St-line on eBay. I got it for $130 from a seller from the UK. hopefully it will be here on Saturday. Feels like a great deal so hopefully it's as good as it looked in the pictures.

There's also some bronco sport fake leather steering wheels for not too bad of price on eBay. Basically you're paying a little bit more for a steering wheel that's already covered and is meant to have leather. Vs sewing on a piece of leather that won't look quite as good. And I'd argue it's much easier to swap a steering wheel than to sew on a cover.

I definitely agree the stock steering wheel is very slippery and feels sketchy when one- handing it at times lol

Installing the tailgate assist strut requires removal of the factory tailgate tie down bracket which would now contact it when closing the gate. If you'd like to replace the tie down with one that doesn't have this interference, I've made some that I'm selling.

Works well and clears the new strut and no issues with the cable. I have a thread here in the For Sale forum.
