I totally agree, these tires should have been OEM spec! I don't do any crazy off-roading either but really just need something that can handle good on the snow.
Personally, I am glad they are not OEM!

OEM tires are not built to the same standard as purchased tires.

Go check ANY tire manufacture warranty.

"This warranty does not apply to any OEM tires" will be almost verbatim in all of them.

Imagine how pissed I was, learning this, after my ProContact TX tires that are supposed to be like 100,000kms warranty were garbage after 30k kms.

Even the BFG KO3s that come on the Ranger Raptor are an inferior tire to purchased KO3s, and also do not adhere to any tread / wear warranty.

I see your point for sure! I do agree that any tire purchased after the fact is going to exceed OEM specs. Overall, I just wish Ford had put a better tire than the Scorpion ATR on from the factory. I know there was that upgraded 18" wheel that came with the Falkens, but I liked the look of the black 17" wheels better, locking me in with those Scorpions initially.

These Firestones were money well-spent!

Ah sorry, I misunderstood your original intent. I agree they should have came with something MUCH more suitable to the "FX4 package" (it is my understanding for 2025 forward they now do)

BUT

It would likely piss me off even more if it was a more expensive tire that needed replacing just as soon

Not that the OEM ones aren't within a few % of the same price, but, I just feel like it is better off this way so people don't think the purchased product is even the same in any metric compared to OEM options.

Just installed a Rough Country 1" Level Kit and new Firestone Destination AT2 tires. My FX4 had Pirelli Scorpion ATRs in 225/65-17 from the factory. I got 30k miles out of them... I went up to 235/70-17 with the Firestones. Happy to report perfect fitment. No rubbing. IMO an FX4 should have looked like this from the factory.

Speedo reads 2 mph slow on the freeway, 1 mph slow around town. I plan on adjusting the tire size in Forscan in the coming days.

Good looking truck! Love the color! Wife graduated from Arthur Hill in 1969. I graduated from St. Charles in 1975. Moved to South Carolina in 2021 to get out of the snow. Love my Maverick, would like to get the 2025 AWD hybrid, but not much snow here, so my 2022 is doing just fine!

Right on! I actually live just up the road from Arthur Hill. It's now Saginaw Arts & Science Academy. They've combined Arthur Hill and Saginaw High into one new school, Saginaw United, which is right on the river in Downtown. Enjoy your Maverick!

No worries. I totally agree with you though!

If you care at all about snow performance for more than an inch of it, you should be looking at getting winter tires.

I ran these for a month in the Canadian winter, better than any tire I have ever used that wasn't a winter tire.

Still double the stop distance of a winter tire.

Not even Wildpeak AT3w compares to a winter tire in the winter, let alone on sheer ice.

I get what you are saying, but I am not sure you get what I am saying.

As far as a Maverick is concerned, you are going to have to make a much better argument to sway my opinion.

The folks I have posted above have a LOT of information on this and many other tires, conditions, etc.

These are corroborated with many other high-value testing methods.

I have done more research into this than you, I would reckon.
are you enjoying yourself, propping up this strawman argument so that you can beat it down?

I'm confident that you aren't going to listen to me and you have said several things that I don't agree with. but I'm happy to rebut anyway because others may be a bit more rational.
depends on what characteristics you value.
that is what I said before your stream of blow-hard nonsense. so, you get to decide how much snow performance matters for everyone else? and you seem to recognize that performance of all-terrain tires vary based on what they were designed to do, but you choose to say that if you really care about snow performance you buy dedicated snow tires.

that is ridiculous because the types of weather and terrain that people drive in, and their expectations for driving in them, vary greatly. where I live we average only 14" snow a year, but we get some ice, and we have a lot of rural roads where it would be undesirable to be stranded. so some people choose to get tires that perform well in snow and ice so be sure they can drive 365 days a year. others just get cheap all-season tires, and if the conditions are too severe, they don't drive until the roads are cleared.

to sum up (doubt you're even still reading):
- of course dedicated snow/winter tires are the best in ice and snow. studded snow tires for that matter.
- many people don't want dedicated snow tires, or 2 sets of wheels and tires at all, so they choose a tire that is a compromise for the conditions they value, and the tire cost.
- my direct experience is that 3pms rated all-terrain tires are better in snow than 3pms-rated all-season, which are better than all-seasons that lack the mountain snowflake. I've even had the displeasure of being caught in an early storm with summer tires, and I've driven dedicated snow tires on a miata and a subaru, so obviously my weather isn't like ontario (or colorado), but I've driven in winter conditions enough to know this comment is just lazy.
I said "Best in-class tire for the Maverick"

Meaning, that for anything the maverick is capable of (not mud-bogging) it is the best in class tire.
no such thing. for your preferences, sure, let's say it's the best. (despite you not actually trying other tires on your maverick yet.)

for others who value other driving characteristics, it may not be the best. I bet it's not even as good as the Wildpeak AT3W in deep snow, but you'll say of course not, buy a snow tire. cheers.

Guess i struck a nerve there, eh?

Look, you're entitled to your opinion.

I've done the research to back mine up.

Try to enjoy your day.

You're now on the ignore list, but keep in mind for next time you have poor reading comprehension, "best in class" would mean that as a holistic, all around, general purpose, take anything choice, with weight, rolling resistance, performance in ANY condition, and a multitude of other factors, would be what we are discussing

Imagine hyperfixating on unrelated details worse than the autist. Embarrassing.

You succeeded in pissing me off, yes. :ROFLMAO:

I am glad you like the tires and that you think they are the best for you. The part that bothered me is where you said they're the best tires for the Maverick period. That's a belief that can never be literally true because of all the different things people do with their Mavericks.

I tried reasoning with you many times as shown in all the replies before. You were the one who didn't qualify your opinion until now. You simply said it's the best unless you need snow tires. Since you have a front wheel drive and you can't get around in the snow without snow tires, and you have a hybrid so you really care about weight and this is one of the lightest AT tires you can get, your preferences are more clear.

Sorry that I didn't immediately bow down to your opinion or 'research', but I'm confident my tires are better for my usage. Truck's better too. 💯

I like to keep un-sprung weight down as much as possible. Has anyone found another AT that compares to the Destination AT2 from a weight perspective?

I thought the RT was the Tremor tire, and the Lariats have a Territory HT?

Goodyear's fault for having like 6 tires with Territory in the name, but I'm pretty sure the HT is a low rolling resistance all-season like the Michelin Primacy A/S used on the 22-24 Lariat.
2023 Tremor came with Falken Wildpeak AT - did they change for 2024?
